This may be slow burn and a long story, but if there's something I really pay attention to it's keeping Corvo and Garrett (and all of the others too) in character.
This is a mix between the old thief games and the reboot, but you don't have to know the old games to understand what's going on. :)

When a new science officer joins the Enterprise's gamma crew and starts sharing his lab space, Lt. Commander Data expects her to simply be another human he needs to learn to navigate. But Dr. Huzzun is not put off by him at all. Being an android, he is the only person she can interact with without fear of infection. Neither sees the other's differences as a fault, and they take the opportunity to explore each other's perspectives. And neither expects the connection they form.
At the same time, something sinister lurks in Federation space. People are disappearing. Files are being stolen or corrupted. Resources for colonies are running out despite regular deliveries.
