this feels nice....lots of fics tend to have plagg bring up mari would mak a great black cat or sometimes make plagg like mari more than adrien at times so its nice to see adrien unsettled at the idea of even ladybug havng plagg instead. or plagg wanting ladybug more. and I like plagg pleased adrien doesnt seem to want tikki. I like plagg resenting a little that plagg likes mrimore than tikki likes adrien...though to be fair tikki hasnt really talked to adrien before. and it kindof stuck with seeing mari's view of things where adrien can seem like a oblivious dumbass with how mari tries so hard. its only when you'r not behind the curtain that you realize its reasonable adrien hasnt realized she likes him yet. I like adrien watching it over and over again
honestly i don't even think mari tries that hard. the girl can't even TALK TO HIM! she made this god out of him in her head her likes towards adrien is so unhealthy. chat feeling though i think it's ok. bc he tries hard to win her heart and he might think she is higher than him and he has reasons to think that but he still doesn't stop talking to her! he tries to pull himself to her level.(there is no level...he is gonna end up being higher lol) and chat doesn't think ladybug is flawles she can't be! with how many thinks they went thru. he but bealives that she makes mistecks but then try to fix them. mari... she think adrien is the absolute perfet and don't do any wrong. she totally was against the idea that hat and adrien are the same person. while chat blunc show adrien fast expect the fact and was hella happy about it. i don't want adrien loving marinette until the girl gets her guts togheter and at least talk to him! (i also think how mari moved on from adrien to luka some guy she just start to know isn't fair... chat loved her for over two years! and she never gave him a chance! it's really not fair...)
she is getting better at talking to him and we have seen civilian adrien open up to her. relaxing a bit to call himself lame during gamer which she responds with impulsively giving him luckcharm with the intention of cheering him of. she didnt give it with romance in mind or plan it...just impulsive because she wanted him to feel better about himself. and he doesnt know it but he opened up to her about his mom in simon says which gaveher a little more insite. and she helped him as mari dealing with paparazzi and getting to his moms movie. and she knows he is helpful and kind because aly gives him oppotunities around mari. mari saw his nervious side with kagami and helped him out. mnd you she doesnt get to see alot of adrien's negatives. but they ARE friends even her her nerves act up from time to time. and she does see him everyday. I would say she reacts unheathy toward him...though more in regards to herself. of he doesnt show bad traits about her then she won't be able to find them. I personally think because she is so worried about wanting to show her good sides to him her nerves and less aboyut him being perfect rather than a excuse to hold herself back. and to be fair she HAS tried to confess. first in the poem shesent on valentines day. then the love letter that got switched with master fu's perscription. then the video she sent with the rest of the videos. they got to him. the issue was her name wasn't on one because she forgot in her excitment. one was a switch but she DID succesfully deliver something to him. and the third was felix's fault.
its true marinette didn't follow up once these things got messed up and she realized her message didn't get across but she did seriously try. and to be fair adrien and chat are pretty different on the surface level and their interactions with her. and to be fair to her on luka. she thought luka was attractive and got a minicrush but its steal clear she is more focused on adrien in the show. luka tends to put her at ease and she shows those mature kind patient traits that attracted her to adrien. luka is also a civilian who she can properly get to know and he expressed interest right away. its not exactly chat's fault but she dd assume he wasnt serious due to his jokey tone alot until glacatiour. and she cant know his name or little details about chat right now and she LIKES little details. and chat shows some negatives like flirting and getting distracted during akuma attacks at times and its understandable she'd be a bit irritated when she has her own crush and chat kept insisting on his at times. chat shows the same sweetness but circumstances make it so mari cant absorb it properly due to being in battle most of the time unlike with adrien or luka.
Mari admired adrien being emotionally brave to be vulnerableto somone who judged him and shouted at him on the first day. and honestly they are young and most love tends to start off shallow. it can just grow and change over time.
i am a bit concerned about how she tends to put herself down in comparison to adrien despite how he obviously thinks the world of mari and praises her all the time. plus why would mri want adrien to be chat? it would work in her favor because he is one of her best friends as chat and he loves her....but on the other hand it would mean she has been turning down her crush and didnt recognize him. no one wants to find out they've been ignoring their crush flirting with them. ad it would mean accepting she has shown her crush sides she hasnt wanted to show him yet. we all want to show our crushes our good side. ifshe accepts chat is adrien it meansshe chucked adrien at a akuma and certain things nd up more embarrassing.
adrien does at least admire alot of marinette and isnt blind to her awesomness...though i get your point...if adrien is going to notice marinette she cant just wait for him to fall for her without making her feelings clear first. he's already in one unrequited love and adrien needs someone who can communicate and let him know how important he is to them instead of assuming he knows or hiding it because it might put their heart at risk of vulnerability. adrien has some high maintenanc people with his dad, gorilla, nathalie, chloe and plagg who arent exactly the most straitforward of people. and to be fair its not like she owes chat to choose him as a second choice. he is important to her and he is worth more than a rebound and dating him would be complicated.
and it could be argued that adrien should notice mari and go for her if he loves ladybug. recognize hi attraction to her but he goes with kagami. in the end it comes down to timing and what traits are what you focus on.
adrien sees mari as awesome but due to their rockystart and how popular she is he assumes she wouldnt be interested that way and focuses on friendship. that he is lucky she listened and believed him on the gum incident. compared to that ladybug and chat were on a positive neutral interaction so it makes sense he'd think he'd have a better chance in deepening that positive relationship eventually
thats not a good reason for her to be so against the idea of chat and adrien being the same person its not right she would end up hurting his feelings and isn't chat her great frind? why the hell she should be so against him being also her love. i don't say she owes anything i don't even say she should love him insteed bc people feel what they feel i say at the least she should gave him ONE CHANCE! he was trying for her for two fucking years! she never gave him a chance! why kagami? bc she fucking stare him at the eye and told him she loves him. he asked mari before and she denied having any feeling for him. she lied to him! and adrien wouldn't go and try to ask her out when the girl can't even talk to him! she think it would just scare her more!
oh and about wanting showing someone you like you're good side? i don't think it's right? i mean if they couln't love your flaws then they don't deserve you. i always tell people i talk a lot! i don't need them try to be my friend and end up telling me to shut up! i give them a heads up. (and bc i don't think it's such a bad think but i know others do so...) you should show aquly of both? that way they would see bad and good togheter. and if they except both then things would go fine.
true long lasting relationships of course you should find out the flaws of your loved ones and trust your loved ones with your own flaws for full acceptance. but even adrien as aspik wanted to impress ladybug and hot upset finding out he said mean things during dark cupid to her on another occasion. we tend to judge if we want to hang with someone based on our first ipressions and we tend to want to show our best foot forward. then as we get mor comfortable we open up and start showig more sides of ourselves. in the long run its true we should be comfortable showing all of our sides. but its also understandable to want to keep some of our worst aspects from people we love because we don't want to disapoint them. like if you have a jealousy streak...people can try to hide it or hold it back or pretend they arent because jealousy can be ugly. ladybug is someone chat loves and who he wants to like him but being chat is also hs freedom so he doesnt hide himself as chat and shows his honest feelings most of the time even some of his passive agressive sides..but even he didn't want LB to find out how he caused copycat. We know adrien would accept all of mari on both sides but its not always about if the other person will accept you, its if your comfortable trusting them with those sides of you that YOU don't even like. and most of the time that trust takes time.
but most peoplee go in with the mentality of showing thir best, getting the person to like you first and then bringing out other sides because people will accept more once they already love you.
like if someone started off with the first impressions showing their worst sides it can dampen wanting to get to know them more and thats understandable even if we know the person is more than those first impressions.
its definitly alot easier owning and being open about yourself from the get go but alot of people don't feel comfortable opening up from the get go. and while no one should change themselves or do stuff just to get someone to like you....the fact is its very tempting to do so. its instinctual for lots of people to be nicer to people we like or want to like us back. and mari gave chloe a chance and tried to see her more as just the evil hatable bully because mari had feelings for adrien at first. mari has every right to hate chloe and to b stubborn about it..but mari went to the chloe trying to be nice party because adrien was there. and tried to look a little deeper in chloe and even changed her mind about being happy chloe was leaving the class before due to adrien's influence. and eventually mari ended up caring enough about chloe she was worried about hurting her feelings telling her she couldnt be queen bee. and finding a few good points to chloe. and mari did get some good opportuniies in her attemots to spend time with adrien or impress him. like in fencing, or the gamer tournament or being class president with a slight influence.
in the long run it doesnt help as you need to commit to your openion and be honest if you disagree but that tends to come with time. just like in regular friendships.
and while I'm frusterated at mari as well for telling him twice she didn't like him that way...to be fair would anyone want their feelings outed in those ways? by a wall of adrien that was released to the public and seen without your consent? like mari has some fangirl tendncies she needs to work on but her feelings come from a sincere place and the posters she could see as being a shallow representation of her feelings and she wasnt ready and put on the spot. and the wax musuem she was in the wrong for running off on him and making him think he did something wrong earlier but she was doing her confession and semi kissed him and was over all cringe embarrassing when she thought it was safe just to find out she did that to the real adrien instead of a waxdrien. something she would have never done to the real adrien. its frusterating but its understandably why she would be embarrassed and wouldnt want him to find out her feelings from THAT display. its frusterating to us because we know he cared and he needs honesty and pretending it was all a joke was frusterating because we thought he could FINALLY know. its frusterating but its understandable why mari would be embarrassed and backtrack during that.
though it also makes me frusterated at the fandom because those moments help show adrien isnt dumb for thinking mari doesnt like him like that.
I know plenty of people who wouldn't confess to a crush because they had the feeling it wasnt recrocated and they didnt ant to mae it weird. making the first move is hard and mari isnt good at flirting/testing the waters due to her nerves. like at least chat flirted and had the idea his feelings werent returned already but he still took the chance to confess so she understood his feelings. but it did take him until season 2. chat got despondant over copycat for example when ladybug said the real chat doesnt love her which confirmed she didnt like him and she hadnt been understanding his interest and it sucked and hurt for him but she honestly didnt know.
same as when adrien accidentally hurts mari at times.
and to be fair timelines in canon are difficult. and while we want her to give him a chance, if someone liked you are you obligated to give them a chance or date them just because they liked you a long time? its really risky to date and getting his hopes up when she still likes someone else. they have to work together. if they break up or he feels hurt ifthey try and they don't work out....paris is at stake and they still have to work together.
and she'd be fine being her love if drien was chat because she cares about both. HE would not be the issue. its accepting she did alot of embarrassing stuff aronund chat she probably wouldnt have done if she knew she had a crush on him. when you realize someone isnt just your friend it can make past actions seem more embarrassing.
like for example while its understandable at the time...adrien would probably feel embarrassed that he used to call mari a good friend or just a friend to try to ship her with luka and tried to help his best friend get with her. stuff that he shouldn't HAV to feel embarrassed about but in hindsite would be embarrassing. like how he hammed it up to impress mari as chat not knowing she already knew him as ladybug and she was teasing him a little while he hammed it up. if adrien and chat were seperate people mari would probably feel less embarrassed because at least she didnt have a crush on chat at the time..even if she gets a crush on him later. but finding out he is adrien would mean some of those take more embarrassing moments. like she got his childhood friend akumatized and he got stuff fighting her alone for a while in antibug. or the attacking santa and her jumping to conclusions that chat was protecting adrien is even more embarrassing when you realize chat and adrien are the same person. plus mari watches him all the time but couldnt recognize her crush was chat the whole time XD
its like finding out the answer to a riddle. the answer might be so easy its hard to accept sometimes.
besides they are teens with very intense emotions and most people are very trial and error at that age. lots of people are cringe about their crushs at that age and go at different paces. like we know mari's feelings come from the right place and she means well and cares to even give up claims to a scarf if it makes him happy but she fears rejection or embarrassingherself nfront of him so she over compensates for the closeness she wants while not wanting to be a bother with observing and lots of pictures, and the scheduale and stuff. not a great way to handle it but people act weord when they get crushs. chat tends to flirt at bad times, was pushy at others like during glacatiour when asking her out. was kindof intense. and he wasntthe greatest during frozer, or the interview with the kiss and stuff or the copycat scenerio. oblivio he already knew she liked someone else but could stop being smug about the kiss. plus it seems his antics got them hit in the first place. and he underestimated LB's powers during reflecta 2.0 episode which got ladybug to be snarky at him rather than helpful when he was mister bug.
rather than scare her I wonder if he'd think there is no point if he asked her out since she is popular as nino nate and luka has liked her but none of them have dated her and he has no reason to believe he is special to her since he sees her go out of her way for alot of their friends

I liked the detail that plagg may have deliberately avoided bringing adrien to fu because he didnt want adrien influenced maybe about his treatment of plagg or something. adrien's biggest issues is he has alot of expecations and is expected to act in certain ways. chat went into battle with no one telling him to act a certain way or expecting him to. master fu might put expectations that stiffle adrien a bit if adrien realizes there is a athority figure that could feel disapoited in him or take him away. I do think fu wouldnt have promised to do meets ups if he wasnt going to go. it feels more like fu wouldnt promise them in the first place than deliberately stunt adrien. fu has a biased towards marinette but I think its more master fu is so excited by her and having her in the know and hiding himself it hasnt occured to him that adrien might need or want his guidance and should get it to balance things out. after all it was implied fu had no intention of revealing himself before and oeaving the partners on their own for longer if that book hadnt appeared. its just adrien is harder to get to and peopl naturally get more attached the more they see of someone. fu gaining more and more of a mari biased makes sense when she is the one he interacts with the most and who came to him. and its easy to over look the family issues adrien has if your not seeing them upclose. like the bias grew from the scewed interactions rather than always being there.
like he didnt bring up the book and stuff and kept adrien out at first because of the book connection that might give strong hints to the identities since mari knows who had the book. but then grew from there.
though I wish people put more focus on tikki being strict about identities as well and not pushing for adrien/plagg inclusion.

true....it is pretty easy to beangry at fu..especially once you realize he isnt even a full guardian and he impulse stole the miraculouses from the kids which SUCKS. the dude spnt years seperated from the love of his life. though I thikmaster fu did wrong by mari as well. the dude calls her over trivial things alot. and decided to makr her a guardian in traning without really asking or even mentioning if she becomes guardian if she ever retires she'll lose her memory. and he did just leave her after he wiped his own memory....and the dude created the imbalance by seeing mari as so reliable and that she could handle everything. like the dude let her take all of the miraulouses in kwamibuster even though history says people die or go insane from using that many. and she risked it and used her powers to protect her identity even though it risked serious side affects.
but I feel like painting master fu as a full asshole is ignoreing some nuance. there is actively leaving adrien out by deciding so from the get go. and theirs leaving him out because it doesnt occur to fu to let adrien in because adrien hadnt known and because fu's secrecy thing. I feel like fu was accidental neglect and hadnt thought about it and the gap just got wider.
my sister thinks fu focuses on mari because mari needs more guidance. adrien can usually get back ontrack on his own and doesnt need alot of info to be reassured and keep going. but then fu forgets that doesnt mean adrien HAS to handle stuff by himself just because he is compenant and tends to slow down LB and give good empathetic ideas when she gets too intense.
but then again its nice to bash fu at times because he is frustrating. left chat to hold LB together and a wider gap as she is guardian and kindof conditioned her to try to handle stuff by herself instead of try to find support. though fu did tell mari to use the horse since she shouldn't feel obligated to not leave paris just because of the duty which was nice but still stung because fu never offerd that to chat...like fu better have known adrien isnt allowed to go on field trips because that is the only excuse I could think of...then again ladybug is the one needed to purify the akumas. and fu probably heard from mari that adrien never goes on trips.
though ironically adrien was perfectly comfortable sneaking on that train trip and he didn think about if a akuma happened while he was gone at all. plus the dude kindof put two kids in danger by giving them these powers and hasnt thought about there parents.
like gabriel might be a over all terrible dad and I want to kick him and he is causing those dangers but gabe at least has the fail safe that if he loses the ladybug fixes everything an if he wins he could use it to fix everything and he knows the heros wont really hurt the akuma victims. gabe has admitted he was wrong an changes his mind at times and has tried listening to adrien every once in a while. fu was going to let these inexperienced teens handle akumas. like mari forgot to purify and adrien went out so excited he didnt hear the details of his powers. fu had no failsafe and had done nothing to assist really until later. like we know adults can use the miraculous. life what would fu deal if adrien died or got hurt who is in a family who already lost the mom. not to mention I have some salt that the peacock that messed with adrien's mom and started this mess had been lost by fu in the first place. if gabe knew there was a professional to turn to he might not have turned to villiany.
I wonder if mari would be anghry at fu and tikki wh knew who her crush was but still didnt tell her and just let her reject chat and stuff. didntrry giving her hints in the right direction.

true, tho theres an undercurrent in all my fics where tikki is kinda wary of getting close to adrien, and the reason for it came up in an earlier fic (must have been a miracle, for anyone reading the comments who wants to know which one).
haha, as an oblivious dumbass myself i never did stop sympathising with adrien. pretty sure someone would have to strip naked, paint themselves in polka dots and dance on my front lawn with an 'I LIKE YOU' sign for me to have a realisation and i still probably wouldnt get it. hell, id still probably be like 'what an awesome friend!!'
