So, when you left, we were lonely,” Kanji was looking away, out over the town, the lights of houses going out as their residents fell asleep, “It-- it was rough. Rise left, then Naoto. I struggled to talk to Chie and Yukiko. And then Yosuke drifted so far from the rest of us, like he wasn’t even in the same town anymore.”
    “What favor did you want to ask me for?” Yu asked slowly, scared of where the conversation was heading.
    Kanji turned to Yu, “Can you do it again?”
    The silence pounded in Yu’s ears. Do it again. Do the same thing he had done that year. Pull everyone open, force them to face their truths, and tie them together by their true selves. How could he do it while hiding his own truth from himself? And Yosuke-- always, Yosuke--
    Yu took a shaky breath, “Okay.”

    An AU with no TV world or murders, diverging heavily from canon, occurring four years after Yu Narukami left Inaba.

    i read everything in one sitting. yosuke's characterization and his interactions with the others is so endearing. i love it. i love this series with it's angst and slow burn between major events
