He blamed the fact that they had been shoved into each other’s faces as young as seventeen for the intense burning flare that would explode in his chest every time he saw a glimpse of those dark doe eyes and freckles—a burning that wasn’t anything remotely close to hatred no matter how hard he had tried to convince himself otherwise. He blamed every single fucking person that hyped up their rivalry for the fact that all he wanted was to see Shane’s teary eyes as he plowed into him, making those little punched out *uh uh uh* sounds Ilya heard in his fucking dreams.

Summary
The video starts, shaky, and out of focus. A somewhat muffled voice speaking as if caught in the middle of a sentence.
“….finally start because someone,” at this, the camera focuses on a sweaty expanse of upper back, strong shoulders, short black hairs on the nape of a neck, the back of a head, those same black hairs ruffled by the leather clasped tightly there, “couldn’t stay quiet, yes?”
The view twists, the person holding the filming phone finally settling it down somewhere so it holds steady focus on the main event. A sliver of Ilya’s face can be seen, before he’s out of frame again.

“The first time we hooked up,” Shane starts, “you pretended you were going to leave after I made you come.” Ilya’s hand stills, still tangled in Shane’s hair, much longer now than it had been back then. Shane presses on quickly, not wanting to give Ilya any time to misinterpret where this is going. “You said you would never leave me like that.” The sentence sticks in Shane’s throat, making his mouth gummy and dry the same way as being double shifted during a game they can’t afford to lose. Shane can’t afford to lose this, either. Somewhere against his scalp he feels the faintest hum, a bid to keep going. “What if…” he has to swallow again, thickly, “what if I wanted you to?”
After a devastating loss in the Stanley Cup playoffs, where the Centaurs got so close they could almost taste the victory before the ice cracked underneath their feet, Shane needs help getting out of his own head. Ilya is happy to help.
