Hospitals have never been Beth’s friend. From the hours she spent as an anemic eight year old waiting in the ER to crumbling by her dead mother’s bedside ten years later, she’s always hated them. The wallpaper was always too cheery, the linoleum scuffed to the point of being too clean.
So when she wakes on a hospital bed with a heavy drumming sensation in her skull, she finds herself in a muddled state of confusion.
Or, Beth wakes up after the world has ended.

She had not shed a tear since witnessing her father being decapitated. Nothing ran through her veins. She was stagnant in every way possible. And yet, much like the undead, she moved hungrily with an undying determination to reach a goal. But what goal? What did she have left? Her family was gone, the child she had raised was gone. All she had was this strange, antisocial hick who wouldn't even look at her.
Beth's strength is tested and Daryl finds himself being the caretaker he never knew he was.

He’d lost her, and now she was just gone.
Or was she?
Beth knows two things for sure: she hates her so-called husband with a fiery passion and the only reason she’s with him is the baby growing in her womb. She hates the choice she was forced to make, but she knows it was the right one. She has to survive. It’s the only way she’ll ever be able to get back. And she has to get back.
She spends hers nights dreaming of the man she loves and her days loathing the one she’s with until the day she sees a familiar face in the last place she ever expected. Filled with a renewed hope, Beth will do whatever it takes to save the ones she loves.
Or, where I attempt to fix the mess that TWD made of my squishy bleeding heart when they killed off Beth before giving her and Daryl their proper due!
