Summary
"Why would you need to be on PrEP?" Robby asked slowly, suddenly feeling like he was floating outside his body, watching this scene from a distance.
Jack looked at him obviously. "'Cause I'm planning on getting railed and it's the responsible thing to do," he said, like this should be no surprise at all rather than Jack coming out to him. At Robby's silence, Jack narrowed his eyes. "Got a problem with that?"
Robby blinked, slamming back into his body, aware of his elevated heart rate, the sweat prickling along his lower back and at the backs of his knees, making his dress slacks clammy. "Nope," he said, because he didn't. He didn't.
He just...hadn't known, that was all.

Summary
"Robby’s just a little… skittish, you know?” McKay said, nodding slightly, affirming the unimpeachable truth she spoke.
Jack blinked. “What do you mean?”
She glanced into the patient's room, then back at Jack, a quick burst of skepticism crossing her face. “Look at him,” she urged gently. “He looks like he wants to run through the wall Looney-Tunes style just to escape a hand on his arm.”
A revealing chat with McKay brings up some unexpected questions for Jack regarding Robby's apparent aversion to touch. Being of a scientific mind, he can't abide by his previous oversight. Naturally the only course of action is to embark on a rigorous, methodical investigation into the matter. For the sake of curiosity, obviously. No other reason.

Summary
Delusional, this entire thing. Like some Make-A-Wish dream. I'm going to kill myself tomorrow; here's what I'd like for my last day on this mortal plane. To be fucked by a man who hasn't seen him that way in years. To stand in the shower and have someone wash his hair. To eat one last breakfast. To be held. And Jack, pitying him, still, because Robby's always been the one of the two of them who can't handle shit.

What Robby was doing wasn’t gay. He topped exclusively.
He'd never kissed a man, never would.
He'd never slept a night with another man while they shared bed.
Robby was a straight man who liked to use other men for stress relief on occasion.
It was born out of convinance, not attraction.
That's how Robby found himself on Grindr from time to time.

“Yes,” Robby answered, so earnest and true that it broke Jack’s heart a little.

Summary
Robby hasn’t felt so obvious and awkward since he sprang up five inches freshman year of high school. Here he stands in the middle of the doorway, bearing several tell-tales of a life upside down. He’s wide awake at 2 AM. He’s scruffy headed, and stuck wearing sweat pants a size too big for the weight he’s lost in recovery. Just the weight of his phone in his pocket would be enough to drag them down over his bruised and battered hip bones if he didn’t knot them up mercilessly. Robby stinks of Wet Ones and rinse-free shampoo. And to top it all off, he’s become completely, heart wringingly, affectionately incontinent.

Summary
When Jack is about halfway finished, buttered up with good food, Robby begins, "So, you have another night off..."
The other man stops mid-bite.
"Do you... want to spend the night? You know, winding down together, maybe watching a movie, sleeping in the same bed."
"Haven't done that before."
"I know," he says. The food waits patiently underneath him, and he wishes he'd drunk a little more liquid courage, because then he'd at least be better at selling it.
Or,
For the first time, Michael Robinavitch and Jack Abbot spend the night together. They don't know if they're going to make it work, but the only way to have it start working is to start.

Summary
“Say you got married,” Robby found himself asking. “Would you wear your dress blues? Or civilian clothes?”
It had only been an idle thought, no different than any number of easy, directionless musings of the sort that often came over the two of them on mornings like this one, when no one had a shift to go to for at least thirty-six hours. Robby didn’t mean anything by it. But he regretted the words the instant they left his mouth, even before he saw the incredulous grin slide over Jack’s face.

It's entirely too much justification for your boss.'

Sunset Heat (n.) — A spontaneous omega heat cycle occurring later in life, often triggered by a perceived environment of safety, and/or the presence of a compatible mate.

Summary
There are many things MD Jack Abbot doesn’t care for as a wolf: French blue cheese, uncooperative patients questioning care providers at every turn, the ceiling light in the upper-left corner outside Dispatch flickering a white glare sharper than the rest.
Right now, it’s that silvery cougar, tail swinging in lazy arcs and talking Robby up in front of the nurses’ station.
Jack scowls.
