For a moment, Merlin can't decide whether he wants to deny it or just give in to Arthur’s inevitable mockery. But then he looks up at Arthur’s face, and there's something soft in his eyes, so he very slowly nods before he responds.

“Is it really that hard to admit you like me?" Merlin can't help the giddy laugh that escapes his mouth. "Just say it!”
Arthur whips back around. “I can’t!” he says loudly, and his voice rings sharp as a blade through the air. The lines of his face are not the careless lines of humour Merlin had expected; his features are braided with anguish and decision, warring with one another, and the smile drops from Merlin’s face.

“How can I admit that I think about you all the time? Or that I care about you more than anyone? How can I admit that I don’t know what I’ll do if any harm comes to you?” Arthur rakes a frustrated hand through his hair, watching Merlin as though he expects him to drop everything and run.

Summary
Aithusa might have been no bigger than a house cat but she was still a dragon. That meant wings, claws, and her own personal hoard, which in Aithusa’s case included soft pillows, fluffy socks, and much to Merlin’s chagrin, stolen pants. When Merlin found out that his winged ward had stolen a rather considerable pile of clothing for her hoard, he thought that it would be the end of any kind of friendship with his neighbor. But when Merlin met the victim of Aithusa’s burglary, he was pleasantly surprised to find Arthur, a man who had never in his life seen a dragon let alone a burglarizing one, and Cavall, a curious German Shepherd puppy who was quick to befriend the little white dragon. From there, it was only the beginning.

Again, my ability to understand Micro fails me.
Like really fails me, second chapter destroyed microfiction dreams.Merlin meets Lance's group of Alpha friends, and find they're all very big on touch.
Well, all it seems, except Arthur.Just simple cuteness, no 18+ content. Tonnes of swearing though, and some insinuations, but no actual sex.
Now with second chapter Arthur's POV
And kissing, because as a commenter rightfully pointed out, no kissing was unacceptable.

It’s a shockwave, travelling through Arthur’s body, a tidal wave rolling through his limbs, a thousand fists to his stomach. It rips him apart in an instant and moulds him back together just as quickly, leaving him gobsmacked and buzzing and overwhelmed.
The attraction is so sudden, so intense, that he feels crippled in the aftermath. He’s never felt anything like that before, never experienced an emotion like this. Arthur wishes he could pretend it’s anything but what it is, but it’s undeniable. He’s swept away by lust and a staggering sense of rightness, but worst of all, by a terrible knowing. It’s love-at-first-sight and it’s just as horrible, as exciting and as overwhelming as people have claimed. Arthur attempts to deny it right away, because this isn’t supposed to happen. He’s been so good at being indifferent.

An AU of the season 4 finale, wherein Arthur refuses to abandon his castle during Morgana's seige, and Merlin refuses to use magic to take away Arthur's will, so they're at an impasse.
Rather than break his moral code to bewitch Arthur, Merlin decides to break his secrecy. If Arthur doesn't want to leave his Castle... fine. They won't. Merlin will just have to take it back for him... and all that entails.
