I'm alone, looking out of a few xenonite tiles that had chanced to be clear, and I notice something… off. I can see fewer stars than I usually can from this high up. There was a constellation I had traced out some days ago that reminded me of my home Solar System, from the size and brightness of the "sun" star to the dim little dwarf that I thought looked like Pluto. Now, the stars up to Jupiter were no longer visible. Another crackle strikes the air.

On the far side of the room sit several command and communication control panels, the same ones Rocky had contacted to inform the Eridians of our arrival so many years ago. -I really wanted to explore what happened on Earth both during and after Project Hail Mary, especially regarding the ramifications of a cooling sun, resource loss, and the wars that almost certainly broke out as a result. Before the robovoice said any more, footsteps thudded towards them. Simon crawled back. Why weren’t his legs working? He looked down and at least they were still there. Oh God, please be heaven and not hell.
A glowing figure threw the door open.
ELEVATED STRESS SIGNALS DETECTED. PLEASE BREATHE AT THE TONE.
His vision blurred again and he couldn’t even hear the chime this time, just strange musical notes. He could see the glowing figure dim into the shape of a man. No, no, this couldn’t be hell. After all, hell didn’t have angels.

She stares at it for so long that it becomes the only thing she sees in her dreams anymore.

The humans threw Grace away. Grace, who worked so hard to save them, who came back for Rocky when he realized the taomoeba would eat through Rocky's ship. Grace, who gave up his chance to go home to save Erid too.
And then Rocky finds out exactly how Grace ended up in space.
They're not giving him back now. Grace will always have a place on Erid where he's beloved and cherished the way he should be, even if it takes Grace a while to believe he's worth that. Rocky may or may not have plans to fix up the Hail Mary for the trip back anyways- there were a few things they wanted to say directly to Stratt's face.

It surprises him when he hears what sound like a humans voice- English no less.

He could make his own judgements thank you very much. The window for overprotective brother antics was far gone now. Court and Colt has to suck it up if they wanted back into his life.
