Summary

The sequel to The Prisoner of Jinlintai, this story continues directly from the end of TPoJ, but I also recommend reading Finding You Like This too before reading this - it doesn't matter a lot if you haven't read FYLT but it does have some bearing on this story.

Xiao Xingchen has candy for you.
That isn’t unusual, but it’s still new enough that you’re still finding it amusing. You’re busy patching the girl’s blanket. Xiao Xingchen might be willing to try any chore, but that doesn’t mean you should let him waste a whole day on mending work that the girl will only complain about. It’s more sensible to let him take care of the cooking while you take care of this, and then both of you will have a perfectly free evening to yourselves where you can laze around and tease him.
But, the candy. He’s standing in front of where you’re seated on the floor, holding it out with one hand, waiting for you to take it.

Summary
After the Jin save him following his massacre of the Chang clan, Xue Yang is upset that Chang Ping escaped his revenge and furious that Xiao Xingchen is still sticking his nose in, trying to get Chang Ping to denounce him. He speculates about how to punish them - but Jin Guangyao forbids him, as the Jin's budding demonic cultivator, to go on any more vengeful rampages.
Instead, Jin Guangyao promises to deal with Chang Ping and Xiao Xingchen on Xue Yang's behalf - and so, before long, Xiao Xingchen finds himself thrown into a Jinlintai prison, accused of Chang Ping's murder...
