Xiao Xingchen sits on an elevated floor in a teahouse. It seems even the staff at this mundane establishment could tell he was no normal man, that this soul belonged nowhere on the ground with the rest of the common folk. He should have always been treated like this.
He’s wearing his beautiful white robes that wrap around his frame and then billow at his sleeves, Xue Yang catches glimpses of his narrow waist as he lifts a cup to his lips. He’s not wearing that oversized outer layer that hides that figure under loose fabric. His sword is not wrapped with white cloth, as it was in his past life, and instead lay delicately beside him and the silver shines in full glory against the sunlight.
Xue Yang can’t move from the entrance, because Xiao Xingchen looks more perfect than he had ever remembered.

Xue Yang collapses forward with a shaky breath, his eyes falling closed in the afterglow now, something trickles down his legs. He shudders at the feeling and Xingchen gently brushes a hand through his hair as if to soothe him. It works, it always works. It stops a bit too soon, he's too tired to think about that.
He nuzzles against the crook of his neck where he'd landed, pressing a hidden smile against pale skin. Xingchen is cold, but he’s too tired to think about that either.
“Daozhang wore me out, he will have to take responsibility for this poor A-Mei,” he whined, a familiar song and dance. Xingchen would laugh, he would scoop him up and clean him up, pressing gentle kisses to the bitemarks and bruises that littered his skin. He’d wrap him up in a clean robe and tuck him against his chest and Xue Yang would fall asleep, more content than he’d ever been.
None of that happened.

“How do you know he has a sweet tooth?” Song Lan couldn’t help but pry, feeling a little uneasy at the sign of Xiao Xingchen wanting to coddle the omega.
