One moon after their friendship is forged on the shores of Ever Lakes, Aymeric and Estinien are assigned to the garrison of the Dusk Vigil. Within those black walls are allies and enemies both, and the two young knights will have to swiftly learn the difference between them if they are to survive the oncoming winter.

Aymeric had, of course, known from a young age that his parents were not those to which he was born, and he had certainly heard whispered rumors as to the identity of his true sire, yet he had never in his life expected the man himself to appear on his doorstep to confirm it. “Don’t look at me so, Aymeric,” Haurchefant said, scolding him before he could find his voice. “You do good work, of course, but you shouldn’t live to work – you should be working to live. Estinien will help with that, I’m sure of it.” He was so earnest, so clearly convinced of his own words, that Aymeric felt his own heart being swayed.
“I’m not opposed to the idea, but at least tell me a little of this man before I meet him,” Aymeric managed at last. “I've been to plenty of your get-togethers and met most of the people you know – why haven't I ever heard his name before?”
Haurchefant shook his head. “He doesn't care for parties, and anyway, he tends to be rather busy on the weekends. We met at one of his performances.”
“Performances?”
“He plays in a band.”

“I’ll edit the clear and upload it in the morning,” Toren said. “I think we may be the first group on the server to clear the Ultimate while saving Ser Laurent.”
“I don’t precisely understand the significance of that, but he is a rather dashing fellow, I think, this Ser Laurent,” Haurchefant said into his mic. “I’m glad he could be saved.”

Makoto and Haru have been inseparable friends since they were practically babies. Growing up, however, means that they have to learn new things about themselves and each other. Relationships of all sorts are sometimes not quite as they thought. They come to realize that change is not a bad thing. In fact, it can lead them to something they never knew they wanted.
Ch. 14: Happily ever afters don't happen by themselves, but that makes them no less magical.
