“I’m right here, baby,” he promised, leaning down and nuzzling his nose against Buck’s hair before placing a kiss on the top of his head. “What do you need?”
Buck almost cried of relief right then and there. Tommy didn’t ask any stupid questions. He didn’t ask if Buck was okay, because how could he be? He was just… he was there for him, willing to do anything and everything to make Buck feel better.
“I want to go home,” he pleaded, tears stinging in his eyes.
And Tommy didn’t laugh like Chim, or insist he needed to stay like Bobby. He didn’t lecture him on how dangerous it was to ignore the doctor’s orders like Maddie would have done.
He just nodded as he gently wiped the tears off of Buck’s face, calloused fingers brushing ever so softly against throbbing bruises.
“Okay,” he murmured, pressing a quick kiss to Buck’s lips before resting their foreheads together for a moment. “Then that’s what we’ll do. We’ll go home.”
_____________________________________________________After a night out with the team, Buck gets mugged and ends up in the hospital. Luckily, Tommy's there to make everything better.

Tommy’s leg bounced up and down beneath the table, a nervous habit since he was a kid that he’d never quite been able to shake.
“You know you’ve already met her, right?” Evan reminded him, placing a hand on Tommy’s knee to seize the bouncing. “And she liked you.”
Sure, Maddie had liked him for the five minutes he’d been at her makeshift hospital wedding, but that was different. Plus, with how worried Maddie had been about Chimney, Tommy was fairly certain he was the last thing on her mind.
The way Evan spoke about his sister hadn’t helped his nerves either. To Evan, his sister was, well, everything. Her opinion mattered more than anyone else’s, including Evan’s parents.
If Tommy didn’t live up to Maddie’s standards, well… that didn’t bode well for him.
