He got up from the floor, dizzy and uncoordinated. He managed to find his way to the bathroom and to the medicine cabinet, grabbed the pill bottle and stared at it. He didn’t grab one like he usually did, instead he held the whole bottle in his shaking hand as he walked into the living room. This time he sat on the couch, he looked around as if he was waiting for someone to stop him. He was alone, he knew it. He stared at his phone. Maybe he should try calling Shane again. He didn’t.
orWhat if the detail that made Shane stop doubting their relationship wasn’t the almost plane crash. What if instead Ilya’s depression flared way earlier, when all he wanted was someone he couldn’t have, and what if he tried to do something he would’ve never forgiven himself for.
