    Summary

Ilya Rozanov has been saying I love you into the void his whole life.

To his mother’s cold hands at twelve, making promises she can’t hear. To his teammates through fist bumps in tunnel rituals that cost nothing because they ask for nothing. To a sleeping man, in Russian, because his native language is the only container safe enough for what he actually feels. To a country he is slowly losing the ability to love back.

He keeps saying it. No one says it back.

    Until they do.

    Summary

Rose volunteers for a nonprofit that rescues sex-trafficked omegas, and Shane thinks it's a great cause. He even attends their fundraising galas.

Then, one night, Rose calls to ask for a favor: She wants Shane to let a recently-rescued male omega live with him. In his apartment.

His name is Ilya, Rose explains, and the thing is, despite omega hormone levels, he acts and smells just like an alpha. He can't keep staying in an omega group home because he's scaring the other omegas and endangering the staff.

But he could live with Shane, Rose insists. "You're a big strong alpha hockey player, so he can't intimidate you physically. But also he needs to feel safe, which he can with you, because you're not like other alphas." She pauses. "You know?"

By which she means Shane has never had a full rut, his scent glands barely work, he can't form a knot, and he has no interest in sticking his dick in anyone. Which, whatever. It's fine.

But if being a failure as an alpha means he can help this omega, Ilya, who's apparently as much of a biological anomaly as Shane is…

    Shane says yes.

And maybe it's a stupid decision. But he knows that it's also the right one.

    Summary

It's Fall of 2014 and Ilya Rozanov has cut all ties with Russia. But there's no such thing as a clean break, and leaving isn't as simple as never going back.
    -
Basically a very self-indulgent fic about how hard it would be for Ilya to actually move on from the pain of the past and to go no contact with his family in a timeline where Grigori is still alive. Also, Ilya deserves to be known and loved by more people than just Shane and Sveta. Forced/Found Family here we come.
*Sequel to my canon-divergence fic "To only ever know the cold" (go read that first or this won't make sense!)

    Summary

“Okay,” Ilya says. His thumb restarts its soothing. “Then say it all wrong, and I will understand anyway.”

So Shane tries, reaches out and hopes for Ilya to reach back. “My first year with the Metros wasn’t… great. I mean, I played great hockey, but those first few years, the room wasn’t…"

“Room wasn’t great,” Ilya repeats. “What does this mean? Not great like calling you slurs? Not great like hazing?”

Shane stiffens, then forcibly relaxes. He tries to make his voice light, “A little, uh. A little of both, I guess.”

    OR

Shane's metric for a normal locker room is skewed. Ilya (and the Centaurs) are happy to help.

    Summary

Ilya Rozanov has never had someone to take on a mentors' trip before. Even before he cut ties with them, he hasn't had family around during his NHL career, so those trips have never really been a big deal for him. But now that Shane and Ilya are married and on the same team, Shane wants to give Ilya something he's never had before: a dad for the Centaur's Dads' Trip.
Shane insists on David attending as "Ilya Rozanov's Father-in-Law," and while Ilya is excited to have David along, he's left with a lot of conflicting emotions over the relationship he has with his new family and the family he left behind in Russia.
