Through some cosmic intervention, Peter Parker is apparently a person her father trusts enough to say, “Peter, this is my daughter, Michelle… Although, you two seem to know each other already. Anyone wanna catch me up on that?”

“Fun? I’m a little…rat man!” he exclaims, shoving the image towards her as if she hasn’t seen it before.
“Now, that’s not true.” MJ tuts, shaking her head. “You’re our little rat man."

MJ nods, something in her deflating. “Okay.”
“We can meet for coffee though,” Peter adds quietly. “You don’t…you don’t need to have something to give me.”
“Right.”
Peter lets out a breath and smiles at her. “See you for coffee?” he asks.
MJ smiles back at him, nodding her head as her throat tightens. “See you for coffee.”

Another silence falls between them, heavy and borderline soul-crushing, yet popping with an undeniable static that has his senses on the highest alert. The overwhelming urge to laugh tugs at him, almost as loud as the dull ache thrumming in his chest. A wayward curl has fallen across her face, halfway covering her eye in a way that has his hand itching to brush it aside, to tuck it behind her ear.
“How were finals?” He asks instead.
Her face contorts in a grimace-smile as she sucks in a breath. “I mean, we’ll see,” she laughs.
“C’mon,” Peter says, consciously stopping himself from reaching out and touching her arm. He nods, cracking a grin, his heart skipping wildly—erratic enough that he wonders if he should be worrying about going into cardiac arrest. “I’m sure you killed it. You’re, like, the smartest person in the world.”
She averts her gaze, looking down at her shoes in a way that makes his chest ache.
God, he’s missed her.

Summary

While he stresses about university and continues to work for minimum wage at a grocery store, a mysterious new threat arrives in NYC.
Between trying to balance his relationship with MJ, his friendship with Ned and his responsibilities as a “friendly neighborhood Spider-Man”, Peter comes to realize that he might be in a bit over his head.
When an unlikely (but familiar) friend shows up again to help him defeat the newest threat to New York, Peter’s life changes yet again—though, hopefully, in a good way this time.
