MJ might not spend the most amount of time in the tower but she is fairly certain that he does not.
Through some cosmic intervention, Peter Parker is apparently a person her father trusts enough to say, “Peter, this is my daughter, Michelle… Although, you two seem to know each other already. Anyone wanna catch me up on that?”

“You can’t ignore the Spider?” Peter reads the headline with confusion. “A menace to health, home and industry? He lurks in sewers— That’s, I don’t…I don’t do that often!” he says defensively, before adding quietly, sheepishly, “not recently, anyway.”
“It’s just a little thing for fun,” MJ says, dabbing away the laughter induced tears from the corner of her eyes.
“Fun? I’m a little…rat man!” he exclaims, shoving the image towards her as if she hasn’t seen it before.
“Now, that’s not true.” MJ tuts, shaking her head. “You’re our little rat man."

Peter shakes his head. “I don’t want it back. Honestly, it’s…it was always meant for you.”
MJ nods, something in her deflating. “Okay.”
“We can meet for coffee though,” Peter adds quietly. “You don’t…you don’t need to have something to give me.”
“Right.”
Peter lets out a breath and smiles at her. “See you for coffee?” he asks.
MJ smiles back at him, nodding her head as her throat tightens. “See you for coffee.”
