It was supposed to be a simple mission. But a grief-mad physicist is a very different creature from a power-mad biologist, and Chris Redfield doesn't quite adapt quickly enough. After watching the world melt and twist around him as reality itself rebelled against being violated, he wakes up with his team surrounding him and trying to adapt while also keeping themselves between him and someone he never thought he'd see again.
Captain Albert Wesker, of S.T.A.R.S. In full uniform. Very clearly confused, and just as clearly trying to hide the fact. And entirely human.
It's June 12nd, 1998. They have six weeks before Arklay, three months before the beginning of the end of Raccoon City, and more lurking countdowns to every other horror that's transformed Christopher Redfield into a man that his own former captain and arch-nemesis doesn't recognize.
But Christopher Redfield has never turned down a challenge. And this one is no different.

Summary
If there is one thing Captain Wesker will not tolerate, it is incompetence. S.T.A.R.S. represents the finest policing unit Raccoon City has to offer, and he has no intention of letting that standard slip.
Christopher Redfield is one recommendation he should immediately discard. Highly extroverted, callow, and allegedly insubordinate, the man embodies every trait Wesker despises.
And yet, against his better judgement—and for reasons he refuses to acknowledge—Wesker takes a chance on him.
As the months pass, the point-man proves himself time and time again. Loyal to a fault and exceptionally proficient in his field, he quickly becomes an asset Wesker cannot afford to lose.
In Chris, he sees everything he never had, and everything he has spent years convincing himself he neither wants nor needs to be.
Maintaining a clandestine double life and worn down to the bone, Wesker grows increasingly fixated on the man who should never have made it past the interview stage.
For years, Albert Wesker has kept his walls high and his carefully constructed façade intact. Unfortunately for him, Christopher Redfield is the first to put cracks in both.

Summary
Wesker gave a short nod in confirmation and fired off another shot, hitting the creature square between the eyes and causing it to falter. Taking advantage of its momentary lapse in pursuit, the two men rushed into the room and Chris slammed the door shut behind them.
As the door closed, it locked shut with an audible click as something mechanical whirled to life behind the scenes. Before either man could process what was happening, a cross-hatching of metal bars shot out from the sides of the door-frame and covered the door itself, removing their method of escape.

Wesker and Chris get trapped in a room within the Spencer Mansion and have to solve a puzzle to find the way out.

Oh? Wesker felt something squirm low in his gut as he pieced together what Chris was asking him. He couldn't deny that the thought had occurred to him before, in rare moments when he looked at Chris for longer than was deemed strictly necessary. As annoying as Chris was, the man had a way about him that Wesker couldn't help but find fascinating.
But what Chris was implying was outright unprofessional. A disgrace to the careful distance Wesker had tried to place between himself and the rest of his team. Something that would surely come back to haunt him later as he guided the S.T.A.R.S. team towards their inevitable fruition.
But it was also oh so very tempting.
