The twenty victims were women of varying ages, races, and sexuality. The youngest so far had been fifteen, causing schools to increase security as they inched further towards total lockdown. All girls schools like Higgs had guards escorting students from the buses.
Charlie would rather Nick not have met him via dragging his collapsed and bleeding self to the hospital. He told himself he blushed in embarrassment when he woke to golden brows furrowed in worry. Maybe this meeting was fate. A chance for reprieve after nine months of absolute hell.
