The twenty victims were women of varying ages, races, and sexuality. The youngest so far had been fifteen, causing schools to increase security as they inched further towards total lockdown. All girls schools like Higgs had guards escorting students from the buses.
Charlie would rather Nick not have met him via dragging his collapsed and bleeding self to the hospital. He told himself he blushed in embarrassment when he woke to golden brows furrowed in worry. Maybe this meeting was fate. A chance for reprieve after nine months of absolute hell. Maybe Nick can help him save Tori and whoever's left because this was now personal and inadvertently, Nick was already involved.

This fic will build a different backstory for Charlie, but his character will, in essence, be similar to canon. Charlie will meet Nick at uni. This is not a slow burn; once they meet, they are immediately gone for each other, and they will have their romance and happy ending despite some challenges and road bumps along the way. This is Nick and Charlie we're talking about.
Despite the heavy angst tagging, there will be loads of fluff to balance!

Charlie lingers in the locker room long after all the other boys have left, almost as if he doesn’t want any of them to see where he’s going, and that more than anything convinces Nick that he’s got to do something to find out what’s wrong. So when Nick leaves the locker room, he turns a corner and then hovers there, waiting to see which direction Charlie goes.
He’s not sure what he’s expecting—maybe that Charlie’s sneaking off to see Ben again? But Charlie doesn’t meet up with Ben. He doesn’t meet up with anyone. Instead, he ducks into a broom cupboard and emerges five minutes later in pajamas with a rucksack slung over his shoulders and what looks like a sleeping bag tucked under his arm.
Nick comes out from around the corner. “Charlie? What are you doing?”
