Comment on Misunderstanding Master

  1. Oh, I can see that they don't know who he is. I was partially anticipating some force-related bang in his panic if only for the miscommunication to go deeper into the very angry "Stewjon child slave and force sensitive!!!", especially once they see health scans, although they could have a bit of confusion why he has no slave chips or other implants - unless they short-cut into the "oh he grew up with him, he is indoctrinated" zone as reasonable explanation why the child isn't trying to escape.
That he has no lightsaber back or proper tunics (kind of another mind-bending "you didn't show yourself worthy yet, boy" signal to be paired with lack of braid or comfort) is a very good set up.

Might I suggest Obi-Wan ending up learning baking/making bread (or otherwise getting something to occupy his hands in a predictably calmer environment) should he be waiting for someone from the temple to come around pick them up? 😉 For me it is a beauty of baking - it might not always be easy, but you can easily see if results were good AND it can be tasty. Pretty therapeutic when all you ever do at work is things without visible progress/trackable completion and can help with busy mind.

    1. i planend for them to get straight to the indocination from a young age so doesn't run away angle. especially with obiwan asking where his master is and being upset when he cant see him.
baking is so relaxing. i will consider it. but obi will be in hospital for a little while. we will have to see how long it takes for the jedi to come after them.

      1. That approach also works. I don't exactly believe that Obi Wan wouldn't do a runner from hospital (especially if it has the "empathic imprint" of pain, sickness or whatever, which is sometimes used).

Actually, if Force-related faiths would be under some focus in the story I would just put in that hospital a nurse/healer who is either Corellian or like Jedha-affiliated? They could be the ones to tell Obi that following the Force doesn't always have to mean what Coruscanti crowd claims it to. Or simply someone who is non-force sensitive themselves but have like a parent or aunt/uncle who is in MediCorps. It could be used for Obi-Wan to change his awareness that as much as he didn't have affinity for AgriCorps or MediCorps Force-based work he could find there something suitable for himself and still help others. Or become a Creshemaster who actually helps initiates finding their calling without the "knight or nothing" attitude. Just saying. It's like infinity of possibilities that I like to explore in thought, but rarely actually write.
Have fun with exploring your sandbox 😃 Mine holds only illusions of constructs, no sandcastles, and that's the desirable state of things.

        1. hes not up to running atm.
but thats a great idea. i migiht put it in. (u now want me to make it so this changes nothing. obiwan stays jinns padwan. everything happens the same. obiwan doomed himself)

i don't think im going to have a force related being on staff. Troh (my made up planet) population is quite homogeneous. most beings are durrans. and im going to make them have no force sensitivity in the population.
no cresh master will come and save him.

im now really tempted to write this as: they contact the council. council sends jedi. jedi gets jinn freed and obiwan back into his custody. this changes nothing. the jedi all still die

          1. Well, you certainly have a much better grasp what is going on than I might have, so yes, if he gets nicely secured in the hospital, no running and sneaking around for him. Not that I believed much in the success, sometimes it is simply a matter of keeping making rash decision out of desperation. And to annoy adults into making mistakes.

Council being "stupid" (from an annoyed reader's point of view) and maybe even nothing changing because of "traditions" and "lack of proof" + maybe no testimony because Obi-Wan is so far into the masking of abuse and not telling truth that he is "simply fine and Jinn is a good and gracious master who took him in when no one wanted to"? I can see that. It might break my heart but still, angsty no comfort ending is some sort of ending... Heartbreaking angst says that Force Ghost Jinn is accusing Kenobi of not doing enough to pave Skywalker his path to greatness and fulfilling prophecy? Completely not a "fix-it and comfort Obi" story.

I don't really read to get a specific kind of ending, so I will look forward to the unknown being unfolded.

            1. uhhh. this is such a good idea. but it makes me sad just thinking about it
i might have to go for the happy ending

              1. I can understand that. Scenarios that make me sad or angry call for either fluff or fix-it to balance out. It might be masochistic a bit but this sad scenario could still be really good to read, just for a different mood, so in a way I would read both versions...
I know it doesn't exactly help but - you could always try writing both to explore how it would turn out?
My apologies for possibly tangling things up. I like to poke at the topic, but derailing someone's creative process is not the aim.
