    Well when Raf was on SVU he had a life, he was one of Noah's Uncle, his absence would have been noted right away, but then they seem to have him fall off the edge of the earth after the baby thing and Wheatley. At this point, considering the lack of cameo, if he shows up again, it wouldn't be out of nowhere if it's because SVU found someone who had been kept captive for over a year (last cameo was in 2022?). Or maybe they NEVER find him because nobody is going to suspect that friendly looking unsub with all the dogs and then stockholm sets in, and it wouldn't be a sad life once Raf learns to be a good bunny...

    ETA: Or Barba disappears right after the baby case, and everybody is looking for him alright, but nobody is looking for that friendly guy with the dogs, or the retired traveling funeral director, or the nice couple or pair of friends living in rustic rural cabin in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful peace and quiet and Rafa could also therapeutically scream as loud as he wants, without any neighbours to worry about. Consider all the times Rafa made front page news while looking so nice, there's got to be enough clippings for a fan shrine. The nice couple can debate the mental state that drove him to pull the plug when he wouldn't have done that before, and then they were, hey let's go get him.

      U know, it'd be extra cruel to train him to be a good bunny, when he's still Sonny's bunny. ;)

        I was mid edit lol: I was thinking though, that Barba would get snatched up, if it was an AU where Sonny ends up marrying Rollins instead of dating Rafa.

        As for Dr. Frederick Chilton -- nobody even dcclared him missing, ever. His house is paid off, bills are paid with automatic transfers, rumours has it that he was so stressed he just took a sudden sabbatical, which wasn't unheard of as Dr. Du Murier did the same thing, but gradually. In 10 years time, nobody would blink when Hannibal takes a shy friend from out of town to the opera, they might titter since it's Hannibal, but nobody would suspect anything untowards, and Chilton wouldn't act as he did before but nobody remembers him anyway, nobody really thought about Chilton, except for Hannibal, because Chilton was so careful to keep to himself and sang only when he's alone... In 10 year's time interest in that European guy who once threw great dinner parties would have waned, and him eventually legally marrying that shy friend from out of town before going on a honeymoon around the world would only be a brief small talk at parties.

        I could so see Hanni never being so crass as to say Chilton is actually his captive rather than his gusts and for the longest time at least, Chilton rather not confront Hannibal over the locked doors or the drugged water. It begun like a game where Hannibal wait for Chilton to do something that justify hurting or further restricting him but Chilton doesn't, because he does understand psychopaths after all when he's not distracted by the thirst for social approval.

          You could have Will and Hannibal not meeting for a few years and then they run into each other at a thing and Will is with Chilly, but no one remembers him - Will gave him a new name etc - and Hannibal is so intruiged by it all they start visiting again.Will lets him pet his pet even.

            "Will lets him pet his pet even.", what good friends they can be! As for the naming, Will does that when he picks up a new stray, plus bath and acclimation to the household...

            Will Graham is an animal lover, he has a whole pack of dogs in his living room plus a smol bunny he keeps upstairs. He takes his dogs on runs everyday and he brings back little treats for his bunny. He likes to wake his bunny with tickles and kisses.

            If instead of showing up at Will's door asking to borrow his shower, CHilton crashed his car and ends up scared and non-verbal.

              Hannibal will be so impressed with how well Bunny is acclimated to his new life. He obeys all the orders, tries not to tremble too much when Hannibal pets him... He's a good bunny indeed.

                I picture Hanni finding Chilton at Will's house when he starts stalking Will again, he's watching from the top of the stairs and doesn't say anything when Hanni talks at him, just goes and hide under the blanket and shakes, Hanni is intrigued and Will comes home to find Haannibal petting HIS bunny.

        What if Barba ends up in jail short-term, for like, contempt of court? A while ago thee was a Sir Conrad Black who ended up in jail for financial dealies, and in spite of all the jokes about prison rape, he had the respect of the young bloods since he was tutoring them on finances...this could especially work once Raf was a defense attorney.
