I think Alya would give those practical but thoughtful gifts that are really hard to hit on - something like a whole bunch of rare potions supplies for Garreth or something. Atty has missed from home but is difficult to get in the UK even with magic.

The Sallow family dynamics weirded me out too. There was something off about the uncle’s relationship with his charges, but without more info it was impossible to say what.

I can see Sebastian having dreamed of being an Auror or curse breaker, but can’t imagine what he’ll go for now…. I don’t quite see him as the political type that’ll go into the ministry seeking to reform it… but I also can’t see him wanting to take the DADA position from Alya either. Maybe he can freelance as a dueling instructor in Hogsmede? (Or who knows? Maybe he can become the most terrifying librarian Hogwarts has ever had.)

    1. Thanks for the ideas <3

It always felt weird to me that Solomon apparently cared for Anne's well-being, but also never actually did anything to help aside from saying "we're moving out of this house and away from Feldcroft - away from Sebastian" It seemed like he only cared superficially for Anne but absolutely despised Sebastian. I discussed it with someone in the comments once, and we thought that it might be a similar situation to Snape. Solomon was in love with the Twins' mother, but she chose his brother. He loves Anne, because she is similar to her mother, but he also hates her because she's not his daughter but his brother's. Maybe he even likes that she is depending on him to take care of her, because he always wanted to take care of her mother. Sebastian, on the other hand, is too much like his father - he's great at DADA, maybe he even looks exactly like his father but with his mother's colouring, and at fourteen/fifteen he is basically already more successful than Solomon ever was. He won the Crossed Wand Tournament, he has a bright future, he is a talented wizard, people are crushing on him, etc., so Solomon is just growing more and more resentful and maybe even a tiny bit delusional. Maybe in his head his brother caused the accident that killed the twins parents, maybe in his delusion Anne has become her mother and Sebastian has become his dad and Solomon is now trying to protect Anne from Sebastian because 'he already killed her once'

      The possibilities are endless!

If not for that travel part, I would love to make him a curse breaker, but it seems too out of character for Sebastian 'The Simp' Sallow to leave his wife behind to pursue his job.But he also doesn't seem like much of a teacher. Sure, he teaches the MC a few things in game, but I don't see him having the patience to deal with younger children. I just don't. Nevermind that the only teaching position he'd ever consider would be the DADA position and he would never try to take that from Alya. I like the freelancing duelling instructor part, but I could also imagine just straight up competitive duelling (Professor Flitwick used to do that so it's definitely a thing in canon) or maybe some kind of private protection detail? If all else fails I also like the thought of him as the librarian, because it would allow him to focus on a hobby outside of fighting everything that moves. I like to imagine that he is a total bookworm and used to spend all his time in the library, but Scribner ruined that for him somehow and now he barely has the chance to enjoy his books anymore. Maybe Alya can get him access to her own personal library and he can back into that hobby of his ;)

That makes as much sense as anything else where Solomon is concerned… he’s weirdly against Sebastian every time we see him in the game and reacts way over the top to his use of the dark arts (though everything with the imperio’d goblin felt artificial, like there are a hundred other spells Sebastian could have used; a mind control spell to have the goblin kill himself is not the top one that comes to mind in a duel.)

If nothing else, I can see him resentful of Sebastian’s success. It kind of makes me wonder what Solomon has been doing after loosing his job to keep everyone fed. I’m betting they don’t have stacks of gold hidden away in the bank. (Oooh. Solomon as one of Rookwood’s men? Like he would have been present at the final confrontation if he hadn’t died first?)

I can’t see Sebastian as a teacher if younger students either, or willing to be away from Alya for long. Competitive dueling does make the most sense, with him maybe “settling down” as a teacher or dueling instructor after the kids are all in Hogwarts. Hmm…

He’s definitely a bookworm though. No one sneaks into a library unless they really love books. Even to find a cure for their sister.

        1. Honestly, the Sallow family is probably the biggest mystery in that entire game. Yeah, sure, I would really like to know more about Ancient Magic and where that shit came from and how it works, but what the fuck is up with the Sallow family? How exactly did the parents die? Since they were Professors, what was their canon subjects? What is Anne's curse exactly? Did she survive that shit in canon? Why was Solomon so adamantly against anything Sebastian did? Why did he never do anything about the stuff going on in Rookwood castle?
          I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!!

You're right as well, who the fuck sees a goblin attack their sister and thinks "You know what? Imperio is the absolute best spell to use in this particular situation."? Makes no sense whatsoever. I can think of at least ten non-lethal and not illegal spells that would make more sense in that situation. It just felt like the Devs were trying too hard to make him "evil"
Also, Anne was totally capable of destroying half a dozen Inferi with one spell, but one goblin had her cowering in fear like a little girl? Like, if you want to make her helpless, at least stick to it? Fucking idiots.

I'm honestly not sure what Solomon's been doing. I made a bit of a family tree (with 444 people lol) and in my head they are a decently old pureblood family, so I can think of there being at least some funds put aside for Sebastian and Anne, idk tho. I feel like Solomon would be arsehole enough to mooch off his niece and nephew, seems kind of in character

I had the idea for a wizarding museum yesterday and I almost want Anne to change her dream and to make that a team effort - Anne evaluates the stuff they find, Natty does the finding part, Ominis is in charge of actually making sure the museum is up and running and Alya pays for everything. Kinda want Sebastian to either joing Natty or Ominis xD
Honestly, that still sounds cool for Ominis and Natty, but I'm probably going to stick to teaching for Anne and competitive Duelling for Sebastian. Maybe he can switch to being a journalist later on. Pretty sure that's what Ginny did after ending her career as a professional Quidditch Player, so why can't Sebastian do the same? Might even combine his love for written stuff and fighting xD
He was totally giving me Hermione vibes at some points in the game. "I have a problem, let's go to the Library and find a solution!" is a total Hermione move xD

Honestly there were so many questions I wished the game would answer, but didn’t. Just simple basic things like you said, like “what was Anne cursed with?” And “why do so many people live in one room homes when they have magic?” And “how has no one overthrown the MoM when they’ve historically been shown to be massively incompetent in everything they do?”

I would love to see the family tree though. I do crazy things like that as well trying to make sense of things in fic, and I love it.

Maybe Anne can start up the museum while Black is still headmaster and after he leaves take over the HoM teaching position like she really loves? I don’t think he dies until the 1910s, so she has time.

The Devs were trying really too hard with his “evil” arc, but that one really felt egregious. Not to mention, if you have to really mean it for the killing curse to work, even if for just one second, what the frak is going on in that household that Sebastian actually wants to kill his uncle in that second? Like that should be a major red flag. And if it’s just about him using the killing curse, why does no one care about the MC slaughtering their way across the countryside with poachers and goblins?

            1. Somehow I didn't even think "Why hasn't anyone tried overthrowing the government before?" but now that you've mentioned it, I'm honestly surprised that it didn't happen more often. Like, at this point, Alya could get blackout drunk one evening and wake up the next morning as the dictator of Magical Britain after completely demolishing the Ministry over night while drunk as fuck. They're so incompetent it wouldn't need anything more than that, seriously.
I also don't understand these people's living situation. You can magically extend a tent but not your own house? What about building up, Burrow-Style? I already wrote a rant about this under one chapter, but I just really don't get it. We're talking about magic here!

I made a Sallow-only family tree in Word first, but at some point the program was starting to lag and I couldn't add birthdates/years, so I switched to an online program where you can add SO much stuff - they even allow you to put adopted parents and godchildren and whatever, so it got really big really fast when I added Teddy as Alya's godchild and Neville's mother and Sirius as Alya's own godparents xD I'm gonna go figure out if I can send you some type of link for the family tree, I'm honestly so proud of it already and I'm probably not even close to done xD (Also, Draco, Ginny, Neville, Ron, Hermione, and Luna are all part of the tree xD)

Okay, so apparently I managed it, so here you go Sallow Family Tree
              Hope it works lmao

I love the idea of Anne first gaining some kind of cloud in her chosen field. Alya will have it "easier" to become a DADA teacher after defeating Ranrok, but even she will probably need to do something else first. Maybe I will actually have both her and Sebastian work as cursebreakers or professional duellist for a few years and Anne could technically join them for the cursebreaker part. But like, as a team? They take care of the danger, she takes care of the stuff they find? I kind of like the idea. Ominis can be the exasperated Healer that needs to take care of their injuries lol

Honestly, I feel like in the wizarding world people don't really care about people being murdered so much as they care about people being murdered by this one particular spell?? Which makes no sense, since a lot of the other deadly curses are a lot more painful and far, far worse? Idk, seems stupid to me, but then again, this is Rowling we're talking about. The plot holes of her stories are big enough for Godzilla to hop through
