    First of all I LOVE IT and I hope that you continue it.
    Also, I think considering Damian’s upbringing, I think it’s NORMAL for him to not be as close to his stepmother right away. Damian was abused by his ACTUAL BLOOD MOTHER and doesn’t even KNOW what it’s like to be treated like a PERSON, much less a kid, and so I don’t it’s terrible that Damian’s subconsciously wary to be around his stepmom. She just has to show Damian that she isn’t going to hurt him, and the others will have to be patient with Damian until he gets to the point where he can START trying to trust her. Honestly, if Bruce or the others say something to Damian (like force him to accept Bruce’s wife or something like that) it’s 100% NOT going to help Batmom’s relationship w/ Damian, & it’s going to damage her relationship w/ her other kids and Bruce b/c they were trying to force Damian having a good relationship w/ her when he’s not ready and it’s going to damage his relationship w/ THEM b/c he’s not going to able to see them as any different from his Mother and Grandfather when THEY ordered him to accept something or do something that he wasn’t just comfortable w/ & I don’t think ANYONE in the Batfamily wants it thrown in their faces that Damian doesn’t consider them any better than the LoA (especially Cass, considering that she escaped the LoA & wants to be better, so being compared to the LoA would not be good for her at all), so I think that as much as everyone will hate it, they will just HAVE to be patient w/ Damian and allow the two of them to develop a relationship naturally. Also, it would be pretty hypocritical if they force Damian into accepting someone as family, when they themselves hate people who force others to accept someone they are not comfortable with, but most importantly, their ability to CHOOSE is effectively taken away as well and people like Damian,* who have NEVER been able to really allowed to MAKE their OWN CHOICES, the ability to chose who they do or don’t accept, being able to say yes or no, etc, must be such a big deal for them, that being FORCED to accept someone, when they are SUPPOSED to be able to have the ABILITY to actually have a choice, must be much more traumatic in that sense.

    Also, sorry for the long rant. I just want to make sure that Damian is seen as an actual ABUSED CHILD, and that the others EVENTUALLY see it (Damian isn’t a good hero b/c he’s perfect, Damian is a good heroine because when he was given the chance to truly recognize that he was hurting people (again, this kid is very definition of brainwashed. He was brainwashed into being a living weapon & honestly, I think it’s Damian’s love of animals that kept from truly becoming a living weapon), and not saving the world like Ra’s made him believe that he was doing, Damian choose to CHANGE and tries to be a good person and hero despite his past.
    *and Cass but she already accepts Batmom, and Cass & Damian are two different people.

      Oh my God thank you so much for the comment! I really need a guide to this fandom lmao, because I'm not too deep—but I'm getting there!

        I’ve seen too many fics that ignore Damian’s traumatic past and only focus on the worst parts of his personality. And I TRULY do believe that if Damian is GIVEN time to HEAL then he will accept Batmom as someone who he can at least SEE as family. I don’t think Damian will ever truly be able to see Batmom (at least, not right away or as fast as Bruce, Batmom and the rest of the family would like) as a mother figure b/c of his complicated relationship w/ his own Mother. That’s honestly can be the reality of a situation between stepparents and their stepkids, the stepkids may never be comfortable w/ calling them “Mom” or “Dad” and that’s a reality that Batmom may have to live with when it comes to Damian b/c despite Talia being abusive towards her son, Damian will always love her.

          Yes I definitely agree with you!
          This is why I actually decided to make a fic about Damian! I'm so tired of fics that are too shallow about Damian's approach—most of them only talk about his violent behaviour, and not his traumatic past which cause his wary and snarky behaviour as a child.

          And yep! Even though Talia is nowhere near to be the good mom, Damian still loves her no matter what—he's his mother's son!
