    This is kind of hard to talk about without spoilers for the future plot but I'll try my best.

    You are right to assume that Subaru is stronger than Puck and Beatrice. Though, you also have to remember that while Puck and Beatrice were created delicately by The Witch of Greed, Subaru was created crudely through pure diligence. Of course, I'm really challenging the lore here because we don't have enough information here, but this is this is the logic that I'm going by.

    He didn't start out strong.

    Plus, in this interaction, Elsa caught Subaru from behind while he was in a state of shock. It wouldn't matter if you had a whole arsenal of weapons. If someone came behind you suddenly and stabbed you with a knife, you would be done for.

    Though, I will say that Subaru is indeed slightly stronger than both Beatrice and Puck (contract) but definitely weaker than the Beast of The End.
