Cute, a little said though. As a dog lover I have a distinct hatred for animal abusers and puppy mills. Legitimate and responsible breeders are one thing but shit like that gets under my skin.

Agreed fully about puppy mills and other types of animal mistreatment. In fact, this story in part is a piece of social commentary on such reprehensible practices. Usually (as is the case here), I include comic or otherwise lighter sections to provide contrast. And while I do have a few other dark fics (“The Survivor,” “The Blood Brother,” “The Wind”), most of my stuff is far less so — in fact, the bulk of these stories are comedies or emotional essays. I enjoy stretching out into many genres and approaches.
