so glad you wrote this, i mean i get why the earth kingdom might not accept a fire lord iroh but leaving your traumatized 16 year old nephew to take on the political position that you had been training for your entire life without any help is...not a good move. guy definitely should've at least been regent until zuko reached adulthood
Even if the Fire Nation doesn't do regents (there's no indication they've ever had a Fire Lord this young before, and Zuko did come in via trial by combat), Iroh could totally act as an advisor and general more experienced trusted person to lean on. There's a world of possibilities in between being Fire Lord and being completely uninvolved, at least some of which shouldn't bother the Earth Kingdom.
