    Not the author, but if they used shell shocked with the actual definition, then it is the old term for PTSD — or something similar to PTSD, they aren’t exactly the same. It was coined after WW1 to refer to soldiers who suffered from symptoms like intense flashbacks, mutism, tremors and more.
