    Quick question, what is 'shell-locked?' Is it a stunted growth thing? Does it have to do with his janky leg?

      Not the author, but if they used shell shocked with the actual definition, then it is the old term for PTSD — or something similar to PTSD, they aren’t exactly the same. It was coined after WW1 to refer to soldiers who suffered from symptoms like intense flashbacks, mutism, tremors and more.
