It’s mating season again, and Ivo is fucked.
Not in a fun way.
Due to his offputting personality and propensity to spray ink at anyone he doesn’t like (re: everyone), it’s the 35th year since reaching adulthood and the 35th year of being alone during mating season.
Usually Ivo is content to tinker away in his cave, exploring sunken wrecks and swimming up to the surface to steal from ships. Once mating season starts, he gets the itch to be around merfolk, to court and sing and gift in a pathetic attempt to say ‘look at me, choose me, mate with me.’ Ugh. Disgusting. He hates his idiotic fish for brains brethren and he hates biological cycles and he hates everything about it, okay?
So he usually spends mating season pent up, clawing at his cave walls and singing for no one to hear. A few weeks go by, the feelings pass and he can forget about it for another year.
This time it felt like the water around him was boiling as his brain cells cooked from the inside out. He curls up with his octopus like tentacles, trying to soothe himself with a song, but nothing is working. Nothing ever worked, but the pain and the ache grows so great he has to try, even though his singing voice is terrible to behold.
He’s made it through a few rounds of sea shanties when something changes in the air. He smells something delicious, different than anything he’s ever smelled. The heat in his gut settles into a manageable warmth, and he picks himself up from where he was lying.
He needs whatever is making that smell.
Ivo swims out from his cave and sees something shiny in the distance, near one of the wreckages Ivo’s already picked clean. The smell grows stronger as he approaches, and through his heat-addled brain he realizes it's a human.
A human wearing a bulky metal contraption, a helmet with a metal net obscuring the face. A thick line went from the human’s suit up to the surface above where a ship is anchored, and it's slowly being lowered down towards the wreck.
Ivo wants this human, he needs this human, or else he will surely die.
Sailor Stone is unshakable in the face of danger. Has nerves of steel from living his life mostly on the sea, from fighting pirates to being shipwrecked to almost drowning, twice. He’s heard the tales of the creatures of the deep, terrible and beautiful and they’ll kill you as quickly as the ocean itself.
Sailor Stone gets into the diving suit and isn’t afraid. He’s lowered into the cold ocean, told to look for gold in a shipwreck, and he isn’t afraid.
Sailor Stone sinks four hundred feet down into the ocean when he sees something impossible. A person swimming towards him, with long auburn hair, ghostly pale skin with orange tentacles instead of legs.
Sailor Stone, for the first time, is afraid.
He tugs desperately on the tether, signaling to pull him up as he kicks out with his feet. His thrashing is minimal in the bulky suit as the human, the creature, the mermaid?? fast approaches, Stone’s heart kicks into overdrive.
The upper torso is of a man, bulky and large, and now he can see the creature has an auburn mustache as well, brown eyes and pointed ears.
It reaches out towards him, closing the distance with a pale hand and sharp claws. Stone screams as it slashes through the metal helmet like paper, glass shattering and metal bars bending. There’s a slash of pain under his right eye but it’s miniscule compared to the feeling of water pouring into his suit and the last frantic gasp for air.
His helmet is ripped off of him completely as he fruitlessly tries to push the stronger being away, tries to grab for the tether and pull himself up if he has to-
Only for those dangerous hands to cradle his face as if he were something precious, and then the creature is kissing him, warm lips against his numb ones.
There’s a painful ripping sensation in his neck, and he’s terribly confused and scared until he realizes he’s breathing somehow. Not through his mouth anymore.
The creature is a mermaid, he realizes, the legends are true.
And according to those legends, now the mermaid will drag him down to the depths and eat him.
The mermaid makes a pleased, chitinous noise in his throat and nuzzles his forehead into Stone’s. He then turns Stone’s head and licks the side of his neck, which feels oversensitive and strange and makes him moan.
The tether begins slowly pulling him back up, filling Stone with relief that this strange misadventure will finish before it truly began. He gives the mermaid a wave goodbye and goes limp. Then the mermaid casually lifts a hand and rips through the line with sharpened fingertips.
Stone screams bubbles as he plummets downwards the last hundred feet onto the wreckage of a ship. The mermaid follows him, and he looks up helplessly at the dark shape of his ship.
He points at the ship. The mermaid cocks his head, orange tentacles rippling around him.
“Home,” Stone says, gesturing, “Need to go.”
The mermaid shakes his head. “You’re mine. Matelotage. Mate-lotage. Mate.” A tentacle reaches out and wraps around the arm of his bulky suit, tugging him closer.
Stone laughs nervously and gently tries to shake the tentacle off, only for more of them to wrap around him.
“I’m Stone, a sailor on the SS ARK,” he blurts out, and the mermaid makes a rumbling purr sound in his throat.
“Ivo. Follow me.” He grabs Stone’s wrist with a hand and starts leading him away from the wreckage. Stone’s steps are heavy on the sandy ocean floor, still weighed down by his metal suit. He doesn’t know what he’s getting into, only that he hopes he’ll be returned to the ship before it leaves.
He’s led into a large sea cave, with glowing plants bright enough to see by. All sorts of metal trinkets and contraptions line the alcoves in the walls, the shimmer of even gold pieces and other rarities that would make any treasure hunter salivate.
Ivo stops and turns back to Stone. He circles him, giving Stone the chance to study the strong, larger body, the way his tentacles flex and move.
He then begins unstrapping the pieces of his metal suit off of him, something Stone definitely couldn’t do by himself. He’s helped out of the contraption, wriggling out in his slim underclothes.
“Small,” Ivo says with a teasing tone. “Thought bigger.”
“Hey,” Stone protests with a reluctant smile. The mermaid grabs his chin and starts kissing him again, this time more passionately. Stone lets it happen, not sure why or how this was even going to work. But after their ‘mating’ maybe the mermaid would bring him back to the ship.
He’s pushed backwards until he hits the cave wall, his mouth opens in surprise which gives Ivo the opening to slip his tongue in.
Sharp claws begin tearing through his undershirt and grazing his skin. Two tentacles wrap around Stone’s arms and wrists and pins him to the wall. He feels trapped, but strangely safe as he’s crowded in.
Ivo keeps Stone’s hands over his head as he breaks the kiss. He tears off Stone’s shorts and underwear next, exposing him fully to the cool ocean waters.
“Beautiful,” Ivo grins, brown eyes sparkling, “Mine.” Stone can feel his face grow hotter. Ivo lowers them both down into a nest of soft moss and seaweed.
He spreads Stone’s legs wide, pinning him in place with more tentacles. He begins using his clawed hands to gently explore Stone’s body, making him writhe and whine as he occasionally digs in, leaving behind small cuts that zing with pain and pleasure. A featherlight finger dances across his hardening cock, lightly scratches his balls.
“Ivo, Ivo,” Stone pants, jerking around in his grip, and the mermaid grins.
“Mine,” he purrs, and he picks up something from an alcove above them. Black gloves that he slides on. “Ready, Stone?”
“For what?” He gasps, and leather clad fingers begin circling his hole.
“To become mates.”
Stone nods nervously, hands flexing above his head. What he doesn’t expect is Ivo’s warm mouth to slide onto his cock, sucking gently. The sudden pleasure is enough to distract as clever fingers begin stretching him. As pinned down as he is, all he can do is take it, and can barely move his hips.
Ivo fingers press into a spot that makes him shout, pleasure shooting up his spine as he thrashes. He continues sucking him, tongue swirling around his tip as gloved fingers prod and stretch. It’s not long before he spills into Ivo’s mouth with a pathetic whimper.
Ivo drapes himself over Stone, tentacles holding down every part of him. He can feel something hot and large pressing against his entrance, and both of them moan as Ivo fucks into him.
Ivo’s gloves are abandoned to the side as he puts clawed fingers into Stone’s mouth instead, Stone shudders around them and sucks and tongues at the fingers eagerly. It makes Ivo groan and fuck into him faster, harder, and it feels so good, so fucking good.
Ivo uses his tentacles to fuck him up and down his cock, chasing his pleasure and making Stone lose his mind as tentacles squeeze tight enough to leave bruises.
Then his other hand is trailing down his neck, pressing into the strange folds that Stone’s realized are now gills. The strange and alien sensation makes Stone whimper, and then Ivo’s hand is completely smothering his gills and he can’t breathe.
He tenses hard, and Ivo lets out a cry of pleasure as he continues to fuck into him. Stone’s eyes roll back into his head, he can’t move and he’s helpless, and confused and scared and very horny, and then Ivo releases him all at once and he’s breathing in desperate gasps.
Ivo does it again and again, and doesn't stop until Stone’s teary eyed and trembling in his grip.
“So cute,” he trills, tracing Stone’s gills and making him flinch.
“Ivo, please,” he begs, though he’s not sure what for, and the mermaid chuckles darkly.
“Anything for mate,” Ivo leans in and kisses him again, possessively and eagerly.
Ivo finds the perfect angle and grinds down into that special spot inside of Stone that has him letting out embarrassing noises. Ivo presses into his gills again and the pain pleasure mixed with everything has him cumming again on Ivo’s cock.
Ivo makes another purring sound and fucks into him a few more times before finally spilling into Stone, filling him with warmth.
Ivo presses in close to him, hugging Stone with his arms and tentacles. Stone catches his breath, enjoying the cuddling more than he wants to admit.
“Home now?” He tries, and Ivo gives him an odd look. “Ship?”
Ivo shakes his head no. “We mate for one week. Then I bring you to humans.”
Why does Stone think Ivo is lying?
And why is part of him okay with that?
