"May I help you, sir?" Derek asked from the Sheriff station's front desk. Where Derek never sat.
Stiles stared for a moment, then realized that Derek's eyebrows screamed trouble.
"Hey, Deputy!" Stiles said cheerfully. "My grandmother sent me to make yet another complaint about her neighbor. And she knows enough about the process that I need to take a receipt back. I can't pretend to make the complaint and go back."
How many? Stiles asked.
Two, Derek replied silently. "That's a smart thing," he said aloud. They're smart.
"If you can hunt up a pen, I can fill out the form faster than telling you," Stiles offered. Hunters?
"No, that's okay," Derek shook his head. Not Hunters. "We have your grandmother's info on file from all the reports she's made." Repeat offenders.
"I can still do it," Stiles offered. I can probably take them down from here.
"Nah, the Sheriff knows your grandmother," Derek said. He has is under control.
"Well, I still need a receipt," Stiles said. "I need to wait for that." Not going anywhere.
Derek's head tilted and he listened for a moment. He nodded. "Your dad and Jordan just took them down," Derek grinned. "Give them a few minutes to make sure everything is under control."
"I can do that!" Stiles returned the grin.
