Tsukasa squints his eyes. It’s dusk, and almost the end of his shift.
He’s been working restlessly on the phantom thief case for weeks, and he still hasn't had any new clues on who she might be. She manages to escape every time, and she always steals from the Shinonome Museum!
Maybe he should interrogate Shinei Shinonome again, and dig further into the family’s acquaintances.
He reaches for his desk phone, but as he starts to dial the museum’s number, the lights turn off, and the power goes out. Again.
Recently the agency has been having troubles with the electricity; power going out, light bulbs exploding for the irregular peaks of energy.. An is sending Rui every day to buy new light bulbs and torches.
The blonde sighs and opens his desk’s drawer, taking one of the torches Rui recently bought. He switches it on and stands up, and starts walking to his office’s door.
As he opens the door, he finds a pretty pissed Akito (who was pointing his torch’s light to the blonde’s face, blinding poor Tsukasa) about to knock on his door with his free hand.
“This is the tenth time the power goes out today. I was about to tell ya’ I’m going home, it’s pretty useless being here if I can’t even work.” The red head says, really tired.
Tsukasa nods “Yeah, go home and rest, I think I’ll go home as well, I just have to find Rui first.. Do you know where he is?”
Akito nods “Yeah he was fidgeting with the switchboard again, he’s downstairs”
Tsukasa growls “He went there without his jacket?? He left it in my office this morning, he’s going to get sick! How am I going to make him leave the switchboard.. You know how he loves electronics and stuff..”
Akito exhales, his face softening a bit “He’s a grown man, not a child..”
Tsukasa rolls his eyes “I know!!”
The ginger chuckles “I gotta go now, see you tomorrow”
Tsukasa nods “Have a good night!!”
Akito walks out and Tsukasa takes Rui’s coat and then warns An that he’ll be back in a short time, and that if she needs his help, he’ll be in his office.
Being the agency's best detective comes with lots of responsibilities! An and Kaito trust him with every difficult case and to keep order between employees! He brings the morals up and helps all his coworkers with their difficulties, and like that he keeps the agency’s spirit up!
He walks down the stairs and calls Rui’s name. His attempt comes to no avail though, so he opens the door where all those wires are, sure to find his husband there.
And he was right. As he opens the door he is welcomed by his husband holding his torch with his mouth, trying to connect two wires with his (already injured from repairing his gun the other day) hands.
Tsukasa sighs fondly. “Rui you’re going to get injured if you keep doing this..” then he looks at his husband’s silhouette and frowns “You’re going to get sick as well.. God Rui, it's freezing down here!”
Rui tries to communicate, it resulting a little complicated with the torch in his mouth. He motions his head from the wires he’s holding to Tsukasa’s torch, so the blonde takes the torch from the purple-head’s mouth and illuminates the wires with his own.
Rui grins “Thank you dear! I’m almost done, wait a second!”
Tsukasa rolls his eyes. “Are you going to ignore what I just told you?”
Rui nods sheepishly “Sorry love, I wasn’t really paying attention to what you said, I was too focused on the wires I’m holding”
Tsukasa sighs “Rui! how many times do I have to tell you to-” in that moment, Rui connects the wires and a “click” can be heard, and with that the agency building is illuminated again.
Rui smirks “You were saying?”
Tsukasa tries to stop his smile “..Forget about it. Just put your coat on, it’s freezing down here” and after saying that, he throws the coat to his husband’s face.
Rui chuckles “My my… you’re so mean my star!” and puts his coat on (finally bro).
Tsukasa giggles and tiptoes to kiss his husband’s cheek.
“Have you been here all day? Sorry I couldn’t pass by your office today, but I’ve been busy with the Phantom Thief case..”
Rui nods “It’s okay, don’t worry my love.. Well you could say that I’ve been here most of the day, the electricity system in this building sucks, I think that if I replaced all these old wires with new ones and a different panel..” he smirks
Tsukasa frowns “You are not doing anything now Rui. C’mon let’s go upstairs, we’ve gotta finish our shifts and clock out.”
Rui’s smirk doesn’t falter “But Tsukasa-kun!! I’ve worked here all day and what do you do instead of rewarding me?? you make me work more!” and starts fake-crying.
Tsukasa sighs affectionately “Alright alright, you don’t have to work but at least! Help me archive the cases I closed last month! It’s the last thing I gotta do, then we can go home!”
Rui nods, almost too innocently. “You’re so kind Tsukasa-kun!”
The detective looks at him unimpressed “Didn’t you just say that I was mean?”
Rui smiles, and starts walking to the stairs, Tsukasa following suit.
As they enter the agency again, Rui becomes his “chief agent of the Kaito&co.” persona, his smirk replaced by a serious expression. How can he be the same person Tsukasa forces to eat his vegetables??
He nods in sign of greeting his coworkers of the night shift that have just arrived, and walks into his office with Rui following him suit.
Of course, as they’re alone again, Rui wears off his agent persona and his smile spreads again on his face.
“Okay so I have all the files in the last drawer of my desk, I need your help to separate them by type of crime” Tsukasa pinches his nose “I know you have another method to archive them, but I need them to be in order so I can deliver them to Shiraishi and Kaito. Are you ready??”
Rui pales at the words “separate” and “order”, but nods either way; anything for his star.
They start stacking file over file in multiple piles on the floor of Tsukasa’s office, one for murder, another for robbery, another one for trafficking and it goes on.
When they’re almost done, Rui gets bored. “Love~ I’m tired. Can we finish this tomorrow?”
Tsukasa rolls his eyes. “Rui we’re almost done! another five minutes”
Rui smirks “I’ll help you, but I want something in return!” he gets closer to Tsukasa, closing the gap between them.
Tsukasa hums as a sign to go ahead while he finishes reading a file.
Rui smirks more “Okay! Then I will finish my helping session if you promise you will kiss me!”
Tsukasa nods, he was still stacking up files, too focused to understand what Rui said. He just needs the help so they can go home.
With a new found determination, Rui finishes stacking all the cases like his detective wished.
The blond grins “WE DID IT!! GREAT JOB, RUI!!” he kisses his husband’s cheek and stands up “Could you help me to deliver these in Shiraishi’s office?”
Rui grins and stands up as well “But! Tsukasa-kun!! you promised you would've kissed me after finishing our tiring quest!!”
Tsukasa pales. They don’t kiss often in the office, they usually give each other pecks on the lips or on the cheeks, because when they kiss they get a bit.. disgusting, like Akito would say.
“When did I even agree on this??” the blond asks
The agent smirks “When you were reading!”
Tsukasa growls. Oh well. He has to do it, otherwise Rui won’t help him with bringing the files to Shiraishi. It’s not that he’s really that opposed to the idea of kissing his husband. They haven’t had the chance this week to be too intimate, so office decency can screw itself.
The blond leans in as an invitation for the agent to close the gap between their lips, and so he does.
Their kiss starts tender and soft, embracing each other after their “tiring quest” and when Rui decides to nip Tsukasa’s bottom lip, the kiss becomes hungry and hot.
Tsukasa takes the lead and makes his tongue enter Rui’s mouth, suddenly, after a while, he interrupts the kiss saying
“I missed kissing you love,” he pecks his lips again. “You know what.. I don’t care if they catch us like this, take this as my thank you for helping me out today”
Rui looks at his dear detective in love, wanting to kiss him breathless. Nobody can stop him from doing so, and so he does. He kisses Tsukasa intensely, catching his breath. He pours all his hunger and yearning for his beloved detective, after all, they haven’t kissed like this for a while.
They break the kiss to breath, holding each other close and saying at the same time “I love you”
Tsukasa chuckles and Rui blushes slightly, both amused by the situation.
It’s funny how they’ve known each other for eight years, dated for four, and have been married for two years, but sometimes they still act like teenagers in love, sneaking out the agency to kiss on the building’s rooftop.
The detective looks at his husband, a smug smirk spreading on his face. “You’re cute when you’re blushing. It makes me want to kiss you again”
The purple head chuckles “Oh yeah? then go ahead, my dear”
Tsukasa doesn't waste a second and pushes his weight on Rui more, massaging his shoulders and kissing him senselessly. Maybe he puts too much of his weight on the agent, who, to prevent to fall on the well-piled files, supports himself on the detective’s desk. By doing so, he gets accidentally pinned to it.
They keep kissing, Rui embraces the blond’s waist, pulling him impossibly closer to him. He pecks the blond’s lips and breaks the kiss to catch a breath. Tsukasa takes this as a signal to pepper his face and neck with kisses.
The agent chuckles “You’re cherishing me a lot today~”
The detective nods “Of course! As your star husband, I must cherish you and love you!!”
Rui keeps chuckling “Then you’re doing your star husband job very well, dear”
Tsukasa keeps peppering his face with kisses, chuckling “Well, thank you, my dear husband and partner!!!”
Rui grasps Tsukasa’s shirt collar and pulls him into another breath-taking kiss. They keep kissing in the same position as before, but this time they’re a bit noisy. Tsukasa gasps into the kiss, and when he’s about to pull his tongue deeper in Rui’s mouth-
“Tsukasa-senpai! Have you finished stacking your cases-”
The door opens. And here An Shiraishi stands in all her glory.
Tsukasa jumps. Literally. He almost trips on Rui’s feet when turning to his boss, wanting to act like nothing happened.
Rui opens his eyes, which widen as soon as he realizes that his and Tsukasa’s superior is watching them, in a really compromising position, probably thinking god knows what.
An uncomfortable silence sets for a couple of seconds, and in those, Rui becomes his agent persona again.
The agent nods to his superior in a sign of greeting “Good evening, Shiraishi-kun.”
An nods back, trying to hide her embarrassment “Kamishiro-san, Tsukasa-senpai”
Tsukasa laughs boastfully, trying to act like nothing happened “HAHAHA!!! if it isn’t my dear colleague!!! YES!! Rui helped me stack all the cases I solved last month. I was about to deliver them to your office!!!”
An grins “Yeah.. I’m sure he really helped you..”
Tsukasa laughs harder than before, but he didn’t catch the sarcasm in his superior’s voice, he’s just proud of his husband..
“INDEED!! He’s the best!”
Rui gets out of character and giggles “Why why, thank you Tsukasa-kun!”
An rolls her eyes “Please just bring the files in my office and go home. I won’t tell anyone about what I’ve seen today, but! you are both helping Akito with the coffee machine tomorrow!”
The next morning, An will find rum ice cream in her mini fridge in her office and an apology (and THANK YOU!!!!!) letter.
