Not worthy

Summary:

Just a one-shot of Wednesday pining over Enid

Work Text:

If Enid said she was a goddess, Wednesday would believe her. She's the most stunning creature she's ever seen. Her eyes shine so bright that Wednesday has to look away sometimes. Her touch sends shocks through Wednesday's body. She's not sure if Enid's touch is dangerous, but she'll take that risk.

She was so focused on memorizing all of Enid's features that she didn't realize she was asked a question. Luckily she knows more about outcast history than even the teacher so it was fine that she didn't pay attention to the lesson. When the question was repeated, she answered correctly and Enid gave her a smile. Oh the things she'd be willing to do to see that girl smile at her.

Class finished and Wednesday looked up from where she was putting her things away to see her roommate staring down at her.

"Hey Wends, wanna go to the weathervane? I need caffeine. Like now. I may die without it soon."

"I doubt you'd die without caffeine as caffeine withdrawal is not deadly. But yes, I will accompany you. I too would like some."

"You don't know if I'd die or not. You're not an expert in werewolves. What if it affects us differently?" Enid jokes

"I know a sufficient amount about werewolves. You wouldn't die. But you may become emotionally unstable, like humans. So let's go now." Wednesday stands as she finishes packing her notebooks away.

Bianca stops them in the hallway to say something but all Wednesday notices is Enid pressing her body against her side. Then she put her hands on Wednesday's arm signaling she really wants to go.

"I don't have time right now Barclay. If Enid doesn't get coffee soon I fear she may rip off the head of the next person to annoy her with just her bare hands. As much as I'd enjoy witnessing such a sight, we don't want that today"

"You're so fucking weird Addams. You could've just said you were getting your girlfriend coffee."

She felt Enid tense. Wednesday assumes that means she's uncomfortable with Bianca's assumption.

"You are mistaken, Enid is not my girlfriend. Goodbye."

They walked together to the weathervane, mostly in silence. Wednesday couldn't help thinking about what Bianca said. Did people actually think an angel like Enid Sinclair would date her? She's not worthy of such a woman.

When they got there, Wednesday ordered both of their drinks and a blueberry muffin for Enid. She has Enid's drink order memorized even though she thinks it shouldn't exist. Then they sat at the booth.

After awhile Enid broke the silence.

"Are we not together?"

"What?" Wednesday couldn't believe the question.

"Earlier. You told Bianca that I'm not your girlfriend. Are we not dating? I understand if we aren't. I guess I just kind of assumed we were with our little dates, and you bringing me food, and letting me defend you. I even fed you that one time-"

"You promised not to speak of it"

"Sorry. It's just- with how much you know about werewolves. And the fact you like to remind me of that sometimes. You know bringing food and showing we can protect someone is part of how we start dating right?"

"I do. I just never thought you'd think of me in that way." Wednesday was shocked at what she was hearing. She felt as though she may throw up from the strange feeling in her stomach.

"I think of you that way a lot actually. But the question right now is what you think."

"If I am to be honest right now, I think about you at all hours. I'm in love with you Enid Sinclair. How could anyone not be?"

"So. Girlfriends? For real this time?" Enid asked excitedly

"If that's what you'd like to call us. I do have a question though. We have never kissed. Isn't that what girlfriends do? If you thought we were dating for so long, how come you've never kissed me?"

"Thought it may be an Addams thing. Like some courting rituals or something and then only kissing after those are finished or after marriage." Enid leaned across the table with a smile "but if there's no Addams tradition stopping you, why don't you kiss me now?"

Wednesday's chest felt like it was going to explode. It'd be an interesting death, but no way was she going to let herself die before kissing the absolute goddess in front of her.

She leaned closer and placed her lips on Enid's. The girls lips were as soft as she imagined. It was weird seeing someone from this close, but Enid is beautiful at any angle.

"You're weird as shit you know? But I love you." Enid said pulling away

Wednesday just tilted her head slightly, a little confused.

"You're meant to close your eyes when you kiss someone. It's okay though. You can kiss me however and whenever you'd like. And we can practice in our dorm. I can show you more advanced kissing."

"Finally a subject you know more about." Wednesday teased holding Enid's hand and feeding her a piece of her muffin.
