Summary
One shift. That’s all it takes to break Baran Al-Hashimi. In all her experience, she never thought the place she’d feel the most lost in would be the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center.
She never thought anyone would see her like this, let alone Trinity Santos.

Summary
“There will always be someone willing to listen,” Baran says, voice softer now, more deliberate. “Someone who will meet you with kindness, with empathy, with compassion. Because you do the same, even when you don’t realize it.”
Trinity doesn’t move, she doesn’t speak. She doesn't have anything to say, not even a cocky comeback or a sassy retort. And the worst part of it all is how much relief Baran’s words bring to her.
Like a weight has been lifted off her chest, and it’s a sudden feeling that actually has her heaving to have a deep breath.

Summary
There’s a long silence. Trinity can hear the hum of the other person talking, but Yolanda is holding her phone to her ear, so it’s impossible to make out what exactly is being said.
It must be important, though, because Yolanda puts down the spatula and whispers, “Andrea.”
A beat.
“Creo que me estoy enamorando de ella.”
I think that I’m falling in love with her.

Summary
“Let me get this straight,” Santos says, flat and disbelieving. “No one you’ve fucked has ever made you come?”
Samira glares at her, flushed with embarrassment. “Say it a little louder, why don’t you? The people upstairs might not have heard.”
"Samira,” Santos says, shaking her head. “This is a crime that should earn your exes fifty to life, no parole. Getting you off would be a fucking privilege.” A beat, and then: “Shit, if you ever want a hand with that, you could just ask me.”
