Summary
Ever since he was a sapling, Castiel knew he was different. The forest was full of trees, but none were like him. It did not trouble him much. Not while the human boy, Dean, spent the days beneath his branches, filling the quiet by recounting adventurous tales in the shade of Castiel’s leaves.
As they grew together, Castiel knew they were kindred. Until the day the Dean’s family moved, and Castiel was left alone.
Years later, when Dean returns to the forest as a grown man, Castiel discovers that some connections don’t fade, and that love, once rooted, has a way of changing everything, and that even the wildest things can find a place to call home.

Summary
