Merlin had failed. Despite all his efforts, Arthur had ended up dead in his arms on the shores of Avalon, so close to salvation. Surely, this could not be how their shared destiny was supposed to end? No, it was all Merlin’s fault—he had made all the wrong choices, misinterpreting prophecy after prophecy. If only he could go back and try again, now that he knew better, maybe he could right his wrongs. Maybe he— Oh. Maybe he could go back…
Ignoring Kilgharrah’s protests about the impossibility of what he aimed to do, Merlin let all his power loose, becoming one with the fabric of the world and the magic he was born of. After following the bond he shared with Arthur through the winding paths of time, he finally emerged a decade into the past, having successfully seized a second chance to get this whole destiny thing right. "And I didn't want to put you in that position.”For better or for worse, Arthur knows Merlin's secret. The problem? Merlin doesn't know Arthur knows. This leaves Arthur with a predicament... and an opportunity. A test. Three trials and three opportunities for Merlin to prove he doesn't deserve death. Arthur hopes he will pass them. Maybe then the image of Merlin's golden eyes will stop haunting him.
Merlin opened his mouth. A noise unlike any sound Arthur had ever heard escaped from it. Loud and rumbling and guttural, inhuman, and in no way, shape, or form could actually be coming from his manservant.
But it was. And Merlin was speaking.
"O drakon, e male so ftengometta tesd'hup'anankes! Erkheo!"
For a minute, there was complete silence—a silence in which Arthur just stared from behind a tree in an incomprehensive daze.
But then there was a sound. Both loud and forceful and... familiar.

Danny had thought his past was behind him and he could focus on now. His wonderful girlfriend, awesome best friend, loving family (even though his parents are absent-minded), and a town that finally supports him. He should've known his life was never that easy. Now his life that he left behind is coming back to bit him, he just wished he had let his family know before it all exploded in his face. Assassins, bio-dads, long-lost twins, and why the heck didn't Clockwork give him a heads-up. Seems like his life (or afterlife) can just never be easy.
