Summary
One thing Mob hated more than anything was being left behind.
So when he finds a strange Minecraft mod promising an AI companion that "knows everything," he figures it'll be enough to cure his boredom for a few weeks. He doesn't expect Verity, a cheerful yellow ball with far too many answers and a smile that never fades, to become his closest friend.
And Verity certainly doesn't expect to care so much about the lonely boy behind the screen.
After all, friends don't leave each other. Ever.

A long yellow arm moves towards the top plank.
“Like this.” Verity lifts the log with surprising strength. Mob hears it thud behind him.
He doesn’t turn around.
