There as may ways to make money in a place like Kamurocho as there are stars in the sky, and Akiyama's sorting through which in his mind he's outgrown as he meanders down Tenkaichi Boulevard. Can collecting's not an efficient use of a lunch break without a bike, and even on one, he gets winded too easily. He's too old to talk Yuya into letting him do a drop-in shift at Stardust, and he's too well-dressed to panhandle. He can't gamble without cash to spend, and even he's not quite shameless enough to borrow from the girls at Elise.
Locked out of Sky Finance, Akiyama scrapes together cash for lunch, by any means necessary.

"You should come up," Sagawa tells him. Not so far off from the bar, they've come to a halt in front of an apartment complex, not a hotel, though he'd told him he's here on business.
"I ain't full service," Majima says bluntly. He'd anticipated this. Sagawa hasn't touched him once, and he doesn't seem lonely enough to pay for a little conversation. He doesn't seem lonely at all. It's uncommon quality to have in Kamurocho, though he sounds like he's from Osaka, the loneliness of which Majima is uncertain of.
Having escaped from Shimano's custody, Majima takes up a side job to make ends meet.

Summary
Assembling the new C4 with slightly twitchy hands, a symptom signalling he's smoked a dozen too many cigarettes, Mickey doesn't know what the hell his problem is. He should have just forgotten his… whatever that was and moved on. Scratched it off like a measly bad decision. One he makes plenty of and knows how to deal with in the least painful manner. Forgotten all about it and gone on with his stupid mess of a life.
Instead, he hears the screeching of a car driving without tires. And soon after, his voice.

The little bird sitting on the top of Arthur’s grave tilts its head and peers at him, then flutters off in a burst of chirps. Charles draws in a lungful of smoke, holds it there for a long moment until it burns, and exhales. He sets the unfinished half of the cigarette at the base of the cross, the smoke spiralling skywards like a prayer, and runs a thumb over the fading knife cuts in the wood.
