Summary
“He’s my brother.”
To most, this would be a comfort. For Shouto, it’s a discomfort at best and an agony at worst.
His mother used to steady his arms as he held his younger siblings. She let him hold onto Natsuo’s hands and lead him across the room when he was learning how to walk. Fuyumi wasn’t even a year old when Endeavor separated Shouto from the rest. He had to fight to be allowed to wait at the hospital when Touya was born, almost didn’t get the chance to hold his little brother before Endeavor was banishing him back to the training room. Even now that he’s forced his way back into their lives, he doesn’t know how to interact with them. He never made it past that initial lesson in big brothering: to look out for his siblings, in every way that a small child could.
Shouto wishes that looking out for them didn’t feel so much like failing them.

Summary

Summary
Silent killers are the ones that make their way into the hearts of kids like Katsuki, kids that no one worries about because they hold fast to their convictions and a practiced mask of unaffectedness.
And, Katsuki thinks as he watches Turbo tither away at his desk out of the corner of his eye, as he remembers the fractured look in his eyes after the sports festival, as he remembers how much belief there is in his voice when he sings the praises of law and order despite knowing intimately the extent of its failures, he probably knows a thing or two about that.
No one bothered to worry about Turbo, not even in the face of the greatest tragedy of his young life. Not until it was too late. Katsuki doesn’t have it in himself to care either, but he notices. He notices, and wonders if Turbo feels seen, or known, or something vaguely poetic like that.

Summary
“I’m sure Ouma-kun will be fine,” Akamatsu dismisses, tapping her fingers against the rim of her own teacup. Her fingernails are set in French slants, the powder blue she’d been sporting the last few days long gone. She must have sat down with Amami again. Kaito’s not much into nail polish, but he did let Amami file and buff his nails when he, Amami, and Saihara were hanging out in the library, and he can’t say he regrets it.
“He can sort himself out, probably.” Shirogane agrees. “You might be reading too much into it, Momota-kun.”
Whether it’s a testament to Ouma’s acting or simply an indication of his friends’ lack of faith in his intellect, it grates on Kaito’s nerves.

Kaito's got something to prove. Then something else. And one more for good measure.

The thought leaves him with a hiss, not through mouth but through skin, the high-pitched screech of boiling water meeting flesh, followed by his own wail as his arm erupts in pain.

Tetia lowered her arms a little. “It’s— it’s a hug? You know what a hug is, right?”
She was joking. Mostly. But Agott’s shoulders were starting to hunch up like a drawbridge retracting over a moat; Tetia didn’t want to watch those walls go up all over again when she’d made so much progress. It was hard enough drawing Agott out of her shell.
She changed her question. “Have you… had a hug before?”
Agott opened her mouth, all bright indignation, but then she hesitated. No one should ever, ever hesitate to answer that question, Tetia thought.
