“You follow me,” he explained. He hoped that Eroica understood. It wasn’t like a general and his footman, a dance of death where one dragged the other towards hellfire in a Königgrätz March. It was more like a predator stalking through the low plantlife of a prairie, chasing something that wanted to be caught. It was a pitiful serenade of love.
He knew Eroica could feel it - gratitude and shame - in the tugs at his waist and arm. Eroica had to understand that Klaus was done dallying about, and that whatever happened tonight would be the thing they’d been waiting to happen. Klaus was letting it happen. Even though he was in drag, Eroica had the airs of a man, not a gentle one. He was a tougher bastard than he made himself look. He knew which way to roll when he fell down, and he only ever rolled in the direction of taking. Klaus thought it was a refined philosophy, pleasure and profit gleaned solely from the act of taking, regardless of whether the value being taken was a dainty little thing or a congested strength refusing to give way.Series
