Summary
All Apollo wanted to do was spend some quality time with his husband. That was all he wanted.
Until word reaches Apollo that the Muse of the Flute, Music, and Lyrical Poetry is an absolute wreck. The Muse is even considering abandoning the arts altogether, which will eventually cause chaos among the mortals. Not to mention Zeus' ire, should he find out.
When Apollo manages to calm Euterpe, he learns that a satyr by the name of Marsyas is making musicians quit their craft. Marsyas is a talented musician himself, especially with the aulos he found abandoned by Athena. But his confidence in his craft has made him cocky, smug, and a bully to newer musicians. He taunts them until they quit, steals the spotlight from them, and even challenges musicians to competitions, with the loser having to give up their craft permanently.
Apollo only goes down to the mortal realm to give Marsyas counsel. Little does Apollo know that this whole affair will end up spilling blood.
