Summary
In winter, Michael gets restless. With all the snow and ice, it isn’t easy to go out on hunts without leaving tracks in his wake and alerting the community of a prowler on the loose. Getting caught and returned to Smith’s Grove isn’t on his list of things to do, so he’s essentially trapped in the house and boiling hot with unsatiated bloodlust, and because he can’t kill, he seeks release through your body – the only way to keep him calm enough to tide him over until the winter thaws and gives way to spring. Needless to say, it’s a long couple of months, and by the end, you’re exhausted, emotionally and physically.
But you’ll do anything for him, even to the point of pain.

“What?” My tone was snappy, but I couldn’t help it. I was done with this shit. Done with his shit.
"I'm ending it Bella,” he said, softly, trying not to hurt my feelings, “I’m in love with Tanya. I’m leaving for Alaska in the morning.”
A huge amount of pressure lifted from my shoulders, and a sense of relief flooded me. This relationship was smothering, and I had a suspicion that he was doing something behind my back, and this only proved me right.
What a waste of time. I wanted to hurt him, but he had that special vampiric strength that made slapping him impossible—unless I wanted to break my hand. So I settled for the next best thing.
"So Carlisle is fair game then, yeah?"

Summary
For reasons he's not willing to go into, Shane Hollander does not play hockey (anymore.) He doesn't talk about it. In fact, most people don't even know he used to play. Perks of going to college in America. He will, however, speak at length about Frank Lloyd Wright (awesome), H Arouitects (also awesome), Corbusier (a bitch), and the pretentiousness of industrial aesthetics and how it is completely different from eco-minimalism.
He also has a 4.0, knows four languages, double majors in Eastern Literature and Language (for fun, he says), and refuses to use any pen that is not a Pilot. Not pretentious, he argues. Just...particular. Ugh, whatever, okay?
He's a completely normal college student scraping by in New York. And he's completely fine with that, thank you very much.
Then he meets Ilya Rozanov—rich, Russian, and for reasons Shane can't comprehend, intent on inserting himself (violently) into Shane's life.

"And they, well. They brought in an omega specialist?”
“Specialist?” Ilya asked, his tone wary. The word sounded uncomfortable in his mouth, so Shane tried to fill in the gaps.
“A doctor. For omegas.”
That threw Rozanov off for a second. “But you are not omega?”
Shane scrunched up his face, creasing the skin on his forehead and around his eyes. Taking a deep breath, he dropped the first of his two bombs. “No, Rozanov. I am. I’m an omega.”
He heard the Russian hum on the other side, considering this. “Makes sense. Is why you are so pretty. And why you have such nice ass.”
Shane’s ears burned. “Shut up, stop talking about my ass.”
“But I can still talk about how pretty you are, yes?”

Summary
Shane Hollander is just trying to survive NYU biochemistry, hockey practice, and the graveyard shift at 7-Eleven. He's too exhausted to notice that his new regular customer is Russian mafia, or that Ilya's interest in him goes beyond terrible coffee and cookies.
When Ilya hands him a $10,000 designer scarf and matching gloves, Shane doesn't panic. He sells them for next month's rent. Any normal person would be terrified. Instead, Shane uses the leftover money to buy a Hello Kitty watch, pastel pink, childish, utterly incongruous with the danger circling him. He wears it to his next night shift without irony or apology.
Ilya notices immediately. He is fascinated.

They try to baby trap each other because they conclude that Shane needs to get pregnant so they'll be stuck together.
They are slow to realize that their obsession with each other stems from being fated mates.
