In 92 AG, the fractured Earth Kingdom struggles under Fire Nation occupation. Where friend and foe are indistinguishable, and countrymen whisper in the ears of the enemy, trust is a commodity most could only afford in measure. When rumors circle about a woman who traveled with a child, most entertained the thought no further than a passing murmur.
It wasn't unheard of for women to flee with their children into the night, or abandon them in the mountain when food became scarce. But the whispers prick ears at the mention of the child's eyes - gold, not the kind seen in a war child softened by the Earth Mother's merciful umber, but imperial gold.

And so the children responded with truth nestled deep within their hearts:

For justice.
For honor.
For glory.
For purpose.
For identity.
For love.And so the tale began.
In the North, a girl touched by the Moon kneels beneath the will of her people.
In the South, the ocean's chosen and a warrior of the mind lead their tribe through the push and pull of mourning's tides.
In the East, a girl beloved by the earth dwells within a gilded cage. Somewhere near, a warrior fans the waves of rebellion.
In the West, three siblings hold tight to one another. Two souls offer friendship, love despite fear. The mother shields, the father dreams, the uncle mourns a son lost.
For a hundred years, the world has forgotten its kindness, so to wish for kindness from Man is futile.
But the girl trapped in the iceberg, hope lost to time, knows different.

Summary
Nearly a century after the last appearance of Sozin’s Comet, Fire Prince Zuko, thirteen years old and freshly burned and banished by his father, discovers a strange boy frozen in an iceberg.
When Admiral Zhao interferes with Zuko's plans to deliver his prisoner back to Royal Caldera City, to Zuko’s surprise, the young Avatar offers to help him and his uncle escape. Taking refuge from the Fire Navy in the abandoned Air Temples, Aang insists on searching for any remnants of his people that he can find, to Zuko’s chagrin. Along the way, however, the indoctrinated Fire Prince begins to learn the truth about the Air Nomads and the War, while the Dragon of the West is forced to face the sins of his warmongering past.
As the months go by, the two boys eventually form an unlikely friendship, and Zuko begins to experience feelings that he has never felt for anyone before. However, Zhao will not give up easily, and will do whatever it takes to capture the Avatar and his traitorous accomplices.
