It's the end of Limited Life. Instead of dying instantly when he falls off the SkyNet, Grian hauls himself under the ruins of Bread Bridge and waits to bleed out, or his time to run out. Whichever happens first: he doesn't care at this point. In a haze of blood loss, he finds himself reliving his past with Scar, and he starts to speak to his long-dead soulmate.

Working with angels can drive a man insane, if only because it's often likened to bashing your head into a brick wall, repeatedly, while the angel looks on in chaste delight on watching the human perform. Aventurine, however, can roll with the punches; his angel is weird, and often disconcerting, but he sure is nice to look at.

Summary
It had been months since Penacony. He'd been scolded, put on medical leave, then promoted in all the time that had passed since. Jade and Topaz had already left the former prison planet turned cash cow, although he knew their scheme was far from over. Really, he had no reason to care what was going on with it anymore. Except for the fact that Sunday had somehow escaped from under both the Family and the IPC's noses, only ever popping up to increase the bounty hanging over his head. Last he checked, it was a pretty impressive amount.
Aventurine had a feeling he was going to get lucky tonight.
Aventurine wants something from Sunday. Sunday wants something from Aventurine. Which of them is winning this game is anyone's guess.
