Edward clenches his jaw, his expression hardening. They want him to be useful? Fine. He’ll be useful. He’ll work harder than he ever has before, and he’ll prove he’s just as reliable as any of them.
Though he should be long used to it by now, the others’ comments on his age and reliability get under Edward’s boiler jacket, and Hiro’s return to Sodor certainly doesn’t help the situation. But it’s fine. It’s fine! He’ll prove that he’s just as reliable and trustworthy as the rest of them. The lingering uncertainty in his firebox means nothing.
