Above all else, it was Sauron's heart that resonated most with the Music of the Ainur, but it was his drive for perfection which led him down the path of corruption.

Summary
When he was dropped to the deck, Mairon forced every inch of his body into begging for mercy. He kept his head down, unable to shake the fury even as he approximated gasping, pitiful sobs. Strands of his hair slicked to his face, sending saltwater running down his cheeks; the rest of it was simply additional foreign weight squishing against his sodden casing of wool and silk.
As far as taking a punishment went, it was a poor showing. But this was something far worse than punishment: entertainment.
On the journey to Numenor, Ar-Pharazôn tests the limits of what his hostage can withstand.

Summary
“Now,” Melkor smiles, “you are going to place the edge against your chest and cut yourself.”
This snares Mairon’s attention completely. His fingers tighten over the dagger’s hilt. The steel feels cool against his skin, the rubies large and round and smooth. The long years of his life—millennia of making blades and handling them and taking lives with them—ensure that his hand does not shake.
“My lord…” he says, not in fact saying anything at all, even as he manoeuvres the dagger into position, blade laid diagonally across his pectoral.
He should protest; though Melkor may overrule him, he should at least attempt to rebel against this… this unnaturalness. To injure himself because his master wills it, to defile the flesh that cradles him, this moment of pleasure reddened with pain… It is perversion. It is debasement. Sanctity racked with rot. Intimacy with its guts torn out.
“In then down,” Melkor murmurs. “A clean, shallow cut. I want to see you bloodied. You wear blood so exquisitely, my pretty thing.”

Summary
“Oh Elrond, you and I have lived long enough to know that ordinary people arrive at extraordinary cruelty by forgetting the past in perfectly reasonable increments as they plan for the future. I fear that the descendants of two children found sobbing beneath a bed amidst the ruins of their birthplace may one day come to lay waste to the cradles of another’s civilisation.”
___________________In Fourth Age Gondor, King Elessar is set to unite the Harad city-states under the banner of the White Tree, whilst Arwen struggles with her father’s legacy and her own mortality. But as the date for the surrender and subsequent transfer of power draws nearer, a Haradrim campaign of resistance and subterfuge ramps up in Minas Tirith, and with Maglor Fëanorian’s unexpected appearance in the city, the descendants of Elrond and Elros Peredhel find they can no longer ignore the reopening wounds of First Age Beleriand.
A story of Harad and the West, from the Union of Maedhros to the King’s Peace of Gondor.
