He allowed Hongjoong to stare. He allowed Hongjoong to say pretty words. He even allowed their fingers to linger a little too long when Hongjoong would slip him a drink, because Seonghwa liked the attention. He craved the attention. So he would continue to allow these things, with a clear boundary.
Seonghwa would say thank you, but not compliment back. He would dutifully pretend not to notice the phone number scrawled on a napkin. He would artfully change the subject if conversation veered into territories too dangerous to explore. He would choose his words meticulously, carefully, making sure nothing could be perceived as a promise or an invitation.
Because as much as Seonghwa sought out everything Hongjoong was willing to give, Seonghwa, for better or for worse, was already a taken man.

Summary
It's an easy answer. Seonghwa inclines his head and breathes out, "I'm looking for my mate, an omega by the name of Hongjoong."
Seonghwa expects–hopes for–a flash of recognition and for the alpha to smile and invite him in. But instead the alpha's gaze darkens into something seething. The wolf crosses from the porch, tears through the gate, and converges on Seonghwa in a matter of seconds. Under the spike of the other alpha's scent, Seonghwa cowers. He holds up his hands, drops to his knees right here in front of the beautiful flowers, and he bows his head in submission.
"What the hell do you think you're doing here?" the alpha snarls viciously.
Seonghwa steadies himself, not looking up. He carefully repeats, "I'm looking for my mate."
The alpha scoffs. He sounds not only bitter but tired. "Why would you, when you're the one who killed him?"
Or; Hongjoong and Seonghwa began their mating in the ashes of a great war, one in mourning and the other seething for vengeance. They parted ways with one clinging to the bond they were left with, and the other rejecting it. Years later, they might have the chance to meet again.

Summary
Hongjoong is a workaholic, he knows this, everyone knows this. What he doesn't know, is that it's breaking him.

Seonghwa sat down at the edge of the booth facing away from the crowd, slowly refilling the glasses of champagne from the bottle the club gifted them. They seemed to be having a good time, though Yeosang seemed to be approaching her limit soon. There was no point of even scanning the crowd, it was already 1am. She didn't want anyone else but Hongjoong. The thought of anyone else's hands touching her and even someone elses eyes full of lust looking at her made her cringe with disgust.
"Waiting for me, doll?"
A chill ran up her spine. She already knew who it was before she turned around. The smell of cedarwood and cinnamon gum drifted over her shoulder and she felt her panties getting wet just at the smell. God I'm so fucking easy.
