Summary
“Like most bicycles, it rolls along the ground from place to place. That is where the similarities end. In my youth I attempted to achieve unheard of speed by mounting a rocket engine on my bike. That didn't work out. Today, though...” Hal grinned and pointed to a tube of iron piping with several smaller pipes and tubes feeding into it, mounted over the real wheel and right behind the saddle, “Today... will be different!”
Basically this is the story of the first time Hal Greene, resident mechanic and all around mad person of Ebott's Wake, strapped a rocket to a bike in the hopes it would go really fast.

Summary
An Eridian mining crew find a human welded into a stranded ship on the surface of a moon. They bring him back to Erid, to the only other human they know.
Something in Grace's chest flickered into life. He had buried it so long ago that he hardly knew what it was anymore, and so he took off his glasses and cleaned them on the edge of his cardigan, as if Rocky's words were a smudge he could clear away before finding the will to hope.
“Ah…” his words failed halfway out of his mouth. Rocky chittered at him, a little sound of encouragement. “There’s another human? Here. And… alive?”

There are relatively few places that hold even an illusion of safety in the kingdom of Pharloom, but perhaps she can risk relying on one of the few allies she has found that can, indisputably, take care of themself.
