Summary
A crew conducts a daring raid on the ship of the Mad Wizard Low, rescuing a man who's lost his memories. As Stede adjusts to his new life onboard a pirate ship, fleeing from the wrath of the wizard and trying to avoid the navy of the Immortal King, he tries to piece together what happened to him.
How long was he locked away? What did Mad Low want with him? And is he really just an average human mortal man?
Haunted by a recurring dream of a beautiful man in a raven mask and the burning conviction someone he loves very much is out there, Stede searches for answers, and begins to suspect he may have had a role in a failed magical ritual that plunged the world into chaos and flooding—held only at bay by the mysterious Blackbeard.

“One might think that living a cursed existence is a bad thing. Objectively so, some might say!” Stede turned on his heel, coat swishing out dramatically behind him.
“One might also assume that being made to walk the earth - er - one little isle of it, for all the days and nights thereof ever and after and so on to be a miserable existence. And they may be right to say so! But!” Here he turned to his audience, “What’s the difference between a curse…and a blessing?” He looked enquiringly around the little beach. None of the animals strewn about it appeared to be listening.
“Anyone? Swede?”
The sea lion shrunk back a little guiltily, not meeting his gaze.
“Black Pete?”
There was a rude short from the scraggly hound.
“No one? Really?” Stede sighed. “Alright. The secret is…perspective!” He made a little flourish. “Ta da!” There was a despairing whine. He chose to ignore that.

Summary
Stede Bonnet, recently divorced, returns to the town he once knew with a plan. He's got the house (older and more derelict than he remembers), he's got the bees (and the theoretical skill to keep them), and he's going to be(e) happy if it's the last thing he does. (Stede is, as it turns out, a bit miserable no matter how hard he tries.)
Ed Teach has been keeping all of his various demos at bay more or less successfully for years now. He's known as THE beekeeper in town, always meticulous, always gentle, never too bothered with rules, expectations, or protective gear for that matter. It’s just that ever since their whirlwind romance—Stede assigned to his story by mistake when the editor in chief swapped the local interest story with the cover story, coming to Ed’s studio, treating him like a regular guy instead of the celebrity he’d been for nearly a quarter century, and then getting ravished thoroughly after fourteen hours of conversation that seemed like five minutes, while the sun rose over the New York skyline—he’s more likely to be in his sweats in the kitchen than at an album release party or a kink night.
