“How come you have a degree and never told me?” Dazai whined. He was holding the invitation and waving it around with a look of pouty indignation, like Chuuya had withheld this information from him on purpose.
Which he had, to be fair. There was no good time to say I know we’ve been dating for ten years and fucking for two years before that but did you know I have a degree in astrophysics and that I’m one of the foremost scholars in the country on the interaction of abilities with the natural world?
“Need to know basis,” Chuuya muttered.
“Need to know basis,” Dazai repeated mockingly. “You should take me with you. As an apology. For not telling me you have a degree.”
“That’s not something I have to apologize for,” Chuuya protested weakly. “And you just want to be my trophy wife.”
“Wives wear dresses,” Dazai said, even though that was totally not the conversation being had.
Chuuya was used to nonsequiturs from him, though.
What he wasn’t used to, it turned out, was Dazai following up on them.
