It’s a valid question. It’s, in all honesty, a good question. It’s also one Grace doesn’t really have a good answer to. He could wax poetic about Simon’s eyes, the warm brown hiding a kindness he wants to get to know. He could tell Rocky that when he laughed he wanted to hear the sound for the rest of his days. He could ramble on about the way he could see his biceps clench through his long sleeve shirt as he made Grace’s drink.

Summary
To be honest, Grace did have his doubts about him.
When the new human first woke up, he punched Grace in the face and tried to run away. He didn’t speak for his first three days of being conscious. Not the best first impression.
Rocky, in the meantime, had one job. He was specifically tasked with building this new human a place to stay. Grace hadn’t made time for blueprints, too busy fumbling the situation that was his first real human in over fifteen years.
Grace didn’t realize ‘please build the new human a place to stay’ would be translated into ‘expand my home! the human will be living with me!’

An Eridian mining crew find a human welded into a stranded ship on the surface of a moon. They bring him back to Erid, to the only other human they know.
Something in Grace's chest flickered into life. He had buried it so long ago that he hardly knew what it was anymore, and so he took off his glasses and cleaned them on the edge of his cardigan, as if Rocky's words were a smudge he could clear away before finding the will to hope.
“Ah…” his words failed halfway out of his mouth. Rocky chittered at him, a little sound of encouragement. “There’s another human? Here. And… alive?”
